So I allocated around 1500$ to spend on a small milestone watch from a bonus I just received. I need a new daily and i am leaning more towards a small dive watch for my small wrist.
I cant make a decision between the Longines Legend Diver 36mm and an old Omega Seamaster Midsize 36mm
I am going for aesthetics, but I love how they both look honestly
What would you go for? I know everyone has a different opinion but would love to see your thought process.

Longines looks better, can serve as daily and even dress watch
The Longines is newer so will deprecate, whereas the Omega is on the way back up. So, get the Omega before it's too expensive. That's from bitter experience (missed the North Flag, 2254 and Denim Railmaster because I hesitated & they're fast becoming too pricey for me now unfortunately)
I am a biased Omega fan, so bear that in mind.
Both gorgeous watches 👍🏻👍🏻
Two lovely watches. Reminds me of the older prestige car vs the new car dilemma.
I’d say it’s the same, if you only have one watch, daily driver, need to run it on a budget, need a warranty. Go Longines.
But, if it’s part of a collection or you are willing to put more money into servicing and maintenance go Omega. (Plus might go up in value)
Personally, my vote is for the Omega every time.😊

thats exactly it, old prestige vs new
longines is around 1500 while omega is around 1200$ but probably omega is at a worst condition
I really love both of them i have them both saved in chrono24 and i keep goijng back and forth every day
Flip a coin ….there both great for different reasons

Just take your time, there is no rush. The only mistake would be to make a decision too quickly and end up regretting it.
You might also consider the Peter Blake model of Seamaster from the same era. They come in a 36mm as well with both mechanical and quartz. Sword hands versus the skeleton hands. I have the 41mm version and it’s been my favorite watch for 23 years. A classic
Longines has a better look, IMO. If you're worried about depreciation, look on the 2nd-hand market...
alright guys too late.. made the purchase
hopefully i made the right decision

Too late 😂

Ah yeah man those were in my radar as well, i went for this because i liked the look of steel bezel, its very minimal
My only concern is the bracelet, lets see

Nice choice. You’ll love it 👍
That’s what I’d have gone for. Looking forward to seeing it when it arrives! 👍🏻
With these options, I'd say Longine though I'm an Omega fan boy.

No no wrong answer 😂
I see! Then I guess the Tudor BB 54 maybe ? If it is above your budget, it is worth saving for. I am not a fan of the older Seamaster generations but hey that is just my opinion :) Buy what you love!
Oh bb54 is the dream.. out of budget thou
Used Omegas have been dropping for about a year now. They aren't on their way back up.
Try getting a 2254 or AT. Prices are much higher than a couple of years ago
The mesh strap one looks really nice..the other looks small by how I see the picture like a ladies watch

I’m not sure where you’re looking but I’ve been buying and selling used Omegas for the last 3 years now and right now I’m buying and selling ATs, SMP300s, and Speedmasters for noticeably less than I was 2-3 years ago. I know it’s only one experience, but it’s been my experience.

Im pretty limited tbh, I tend to stick to eBay (UK). Any tips on where to look would be very much appreciated.
Been looking but they've slipped out of my price range.
Thank you 👍
Edit - just seen you're from USA, very different here since Brexit (basically can't buy abroad because get hammered on tax 😢)

That’s a bummer! My only experience is in the US. Too bad it’s not the same way where you are.
Longines, of course 🔥
Longines
I love omega but I think in this option the Longines looks so much nicer and the mesh bracelet is a great touch. I would go with the longines
Longines for sure. 👌
Legend Diver wins for me
Longiness LD, i love that watch.
Since I happened to purchase that exact Omega recently…Omega 😏
My wrist is 7.25” and I love the 36mm size.
Personally not a fan of the mesh bracelets, otherwise nothing against the LD. Seamaster just does it for me.
Omega
You made the right choice the LLD looks fantastic on photos but it rattles like an old bus and the hand set looks to have been finished in the dark. It was on my list untill I tried a few on. The larger size LLD definitely have better finishing the 36 is a tick box exercise in cashing in.
You couldn’t be more right!! I tried the LLD irl and got the omega today and there is no comparison. Pictures could have really fooled me
I still can’t believe how a 90s watch looks and feels so much better on the wrist
