Finally, I own a Cartier watch. It was a long journey!
In the last 8 months I had my eye on Cartier. I love their design language and their history. I went to different boutiques to try different models. It wasnโt always easy. I live in London and many times the boutiques had no inventory. To give you an example, it took me 5 visits to finally be able to try on the Tank Must Large ๐ซ .
In the end, I was set on buying a Cartier Santos Dumont Large (Quartz movement). Butโฆ one day I saw this beautiful vintage Ceinture in a window of vintage watch shop. I tried it on and it was love at first sight. After some negotiation I bought it and I donโt regret it at all for multiple reasons.
Why is this watch cool (according to me ๐)
It is very very thin. I has an ETA mechanical movement and god it is tiny
It has beautiful 18ct gold case (I always wanted a gold watch from Cartier but the current models are way too expensive for me)
It is small and yes it is not for everyone but I love a vintage size. Classy ๐ค
It is in great condition for something from the 70s
This model doesnโt exist anymore and it is not common to see it.
You can easily pair it with different strap colours to change the look (planning on buying a black strap!)
Anyway, I hope youโll like this little piece too. It is really a milestone for my watch collection. I will cherish this watch โค๏ธ

Congratulations and I think the strap you have on it now is brilliant!
Absolutely beautiful watch, youโve made a great choice!
Congratulations!
Proper classic and classy ๐๐๐ป๐๐ป
It's stunning - enjoy it!
Nothing wrong with that at all. Congratulations. Wear the hell out of it. Cheer!
Stunningly beautiful. Good choice.
Congratulations! It looks great ๐
I remember the post when you were deciding, I think you made the right choice ๐ช
As a fellow Londoner, I totally understand the challenge in London: when I was looking for the next watch I was looking at potentially a Medium Santos but was also looking to try on the Medium Tank Solarbeat, and I couldn't find either in London to try on! I ended up getting something completely different.
Congratulations! It looks great ๐

Thanks! Yea it didnโt take long to decide ๐
The good thing about London is that you have tons of shops so you can see almost any brand you want but avaibility is not great. Waitlists for Tudor watches for exampleโฆ ๐
Class act! Really nice. Jeeves would approve this for the gentleman of discerning taste:)
What I did wonder about: in case of this vintage watch, how do you know what the inside is like? Does the shop service it before you buy, do they give you a certificate or a guarantee? Or did you have it checked out by an indepent watchmaker?
(As may be obvious, never bought a vintage watch myself, but I may, one day!)

I bought from a professional dealer. They authenticate and service every watch they sell. You get a 1-year warranty in case something goes wrong. It is my first time buying vintage and I wanted to buy from a pro dealer but most importantly in-person and not online. Iโm too scared about buying something vintage online. Not just because it might be fake but because the condition and size of the watch is hard to evaluate on pictures.

I would indeed share your concerns...thanks for the information! Seems like the smart way to go ๐๐ป Enjoy wearing it!
Thatโs a beautiful watch. I have a thing about Cartiers too. I have several, but yours is beautiful. If that had been available to me, I too would have bought it.
Good looking watch, I wonder how it would look on a green leather strap.
Fantastic! I can't believe that the watch dates from the 1970s as it looks perfect! I haven't found my perfect Cartier yet but always have my eyes open. Congratulations. Brilliant choice!!

Could I please ask which shop in London you got this from? Iโm looking for the Ceinture with the full gold bracelet.
