How to sorten this strap/bracelet. Bracestrap?

I've recently bought this beauty, but the bracelet is too long. I've googled how to shorten it, but want some more advice before I destroy it. The clasp is fixed, but can be removed, and then... Cut? Saw? Gnaw? Any advice is much appreciated!

I'd really pass this job off on a jeweler if at all possible. The big fear, besides cutting too short, is that this thing starts fraying. I imagine you want to sort of guillotine it, very possibly while lightly clamping or taping (or somehow constraining) near the cut. It's possible that you want to solder (silver solder?) before or immediately after to "whip" the loose end.

This would be 100% outside my skill set & comfort area.

Beautiful watch & bracelet though.

I think you're right. The problem is that I don't have a good relation with a decent jeweller yet where I live. So I do a lot myself... But this might be a good reason to actually go there!
