My first chinese homage watch

I’ve liked Tudor Blackbay Pro’s design since the very early days of my watch addiction, which started just around 2 years ago but it’s been constantly on and off my whishlist due to 2 reasons. That thinkess really bothered me, and I can’t just afford to by a 4-5K$ watch if I don’t absolutely like it; it is a serious amount for me.

So I was just on standby. Recently I saw the new Longines GMT that shared a very similar design, and while it wasn’t quite it, I liked it as well and started considering it in future. And then I saw this one.

I was hearing a lot of good stuff about San Martin. It seemed like a solid affordable option with very good finishing for the price. However, I wasn’t sure I wanna get a watch from an homage brand. Then I saw the price. 😄

With all the coupons Aliexpress gave me, the price went down to just 160$. At that price I felt like it’s worth trying. And I got it!

I must say, it’s a really cool watch for the price and it’s solid enough to be scratching my inch for that design. 🙂 One downside though, when I was trying to size the bracelet down, I couldnt get out the pins. 2 of them stuck and I decided I would try later, and in the meantime I swapped the bracelet for this rubber band from strapsco that I had laying around, kept the original clasp and I love it!

They do make lovely watches. Often their homages change a few things around, sometimes for the better. I have the BB36 homage. Except it’s not really a BB36, because it has an oyster style case. Actually, it’s not really an oyster style case either because it’s slightly longer, thinner and has a more delicate bezel than an OP or an explorer. Put it all together and it looks lovely and, to my eye, nicer in these respects than the originals. Yours may be more of a 1 to 1, but have a look and you may see some subtle differences.

I can’t fault how well mine runs either. The PT5000 doesn’t really gain or lose time over 24 hours. It loses about a second on wrist, but gains it again overnight. Win!

Btw, shame you had to struggle with pins. I thought SM only used screw links.

Why did you get a tattoo on a spot that's covered by your watch strap?

Always funny when people call watches like this ‘homages’

Great one you have there. Indeed followed a bit the same path, but going for the white dial one. Patitenly waiting for it to come over, will see how I get along with the bracelet on arrival. Will be my second San Martin, and high hopes based on first one.

Great watch, congrats!

It won’t scratch the itch for long 😎

Looked up your watch and it looks amazing! And yeah I wish they used screw links.

I got the tattoos before I got into watches and started wearing a watch everyday

Don’t you consider this to be an homage?

Thanks and hope you don’t have the same issue with pins when it arrives. 🙂

Well, even if it’s for a short while it’s worth it 😄

Me personally, I put these in the category of replica, since they very closely replicate another watch. Sure it’s not 1:1 but it’s still a bit silly to call it a ‘homage’ as if they were “inspired” by the black bay pro and not just copied it entirely.
