Pobeda, movement ZiM 2602, Ø36mm

Playing with straps. The POBEDA mechanical wristwatch, adorned with the legendary Soviet brand trademark, boasts a simple yet reliable 15-jewel movement, originating from a French design. Joseph Stalin christened it "Pobeda" (Victory) to commemorate the end of the war. Crafted at the First Moscow Watch Factory, this mechanical timepiece, manufactured in June 1990, operates without the need for batteries, featuring a ZiM 2602 movement and manual winding. Fully serviced by a professional watchmaker, it maintains accurate time. The brand's history, spanning various Soviet-era factories, adds a historical depth to its allure.

Such a splendid watch!

Just curious, were you wearing an Indonesian batik shirt in the 3rd image?

I have the same movement in a different case. It's interesting that there tends to be a wide variety of dials and handsets for a given case. I suspect that both variety on the cheap and the natural result of a model being produced for decades on end. There may be some cannibalization restoration going on in some number. None of this bothers me. You'd expect Soviet watches to be very basic-issue but they have surprising style.

Beautiful & surprisingly versatile too.

The Zim 2602 watch, while lacking impact protection, paradoxically boasts exceptional resistance to it. Its spring is bent in the style of Breguet, a characteristic of luxury mechanisms, which again is paradoxical

Thanks. It is a random shirt I bought in a local store, it's not Indonesian 😅

That has a really unique shape with the lugs. I don't think I've seen lugs like that before. The dial texture is really eye catching too.

Love the historical research... But here for another reason: this supports a project I want to undertake. To pair 3 unique straps to each watch I own. I believe it to be possible to have a very condensed collection (so says the addict) if the straps assigned to them give the watch its own look. Thus, 10 watches become 30. Your Pobeda watch definitely takes on a different personality per strap. Great post 🙌🏼

Undoubtedly the finest comment in the section! I often express it as 'new strap, new watch,' and every time I wear it, it feels as exhilarating as if it were brand new one

As the brand with the first watch in space, I've always wanted a Pobeda. And that one is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats!
