Prob hard to find at fair prices but Studio Underd0g's Go0fy Panda? Prob not the best chrono in the world but if you just want some functionality and cool dial this could be an option. Again, I wouldn't pay more than a couple hundred max above retail but sadly most of these watches go for above 1k after the initial sales window on places like Chrono, ebay etc. Best bet is to find someone on a forum that is willing to give you a fair shake.
Anything with a Seiko VK chrono movement and you can't go wrong. Or the new Solar quarts ones at a little higher price point. The 1963 is generally decent but you can buy a new one less than the cost of repair if it gives up.
My newest purchase is a Panda (well blue Panda) Lunar Pilot. Might be a little big (43mm) but it includes a HAQ and some history as a bonus. Its MSRP is under $1000 and can be purchased most places with a good discount (I was able to get one very easily). Twin moon watches.

How does the new lunar pilot fit compared to the older model? I have a 6.5 wrist for reference?
I don't have the older model but my wrist is 7.5" so it was perfectly fine for me. I don't know how it would wear on a 6.5" wrist. @Max did a WatchCrunch YouTube video on the new Panda Lunar Pilot and I think he has a similar wrist size as you so you should check it out if you are interested. Also, definitely try it on.

I think the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer is a good one.
I’ve got the LE light blue dial and love it.
orient neo 70 chrono panda
timex q chronograph panda
dan henry 1962
hemel chronograph panda
Dan Henry watches are decent and relatively inexpensive for 1k you can have maybe three so you can have a whole panda family 😜

This one look evil and mean Panda
another vote for the seiko speedtimer. I resisted for a long time, but once I got it I fell in love. Its a great size and wears really well.
