Hi Crunchers,
Somehow Seiko's black watches have peaked my interest as of late.
I like the color combinations on these series, the black housing makes them super stealthy, the lume is interesting.
There are definitely cool black watches from other brands as well.
Any of you have experience with black watches?
Oppinions on the coating and longevity of it?

Not really had an issue with my Holton Pro.
Havent had my Beachmaster not AWWC Deep long enough yet, but doubt there will be any major issues.

Cool looking watches!
I have this Laco. I do worry about scratches but to be honest I’m like that with all my watches. I’d definitely have another 👍

Cool! Is that the Bielefeld?

Yes. Good spot 👍I’m not a big fan of the Miyota movement but it wears well.

Yeah I have to agree with the Miyota statement, the rotor rattle is a bit loud for my taste as well...

The rattle, setting the over sensitive hands, the ghost date set, no hacking. I’m quite surprised Laco used it if I’m honest.

Somehow all the German use Miyotas or Sellitas, can't think of any using Seiko movements off the top of my head 🤔
Have a Junkers with a Miyota, and when I first got it I seriously thought it was broken 😂 however, it's been very reliable and quite accurate over the last 6 years
I just got this all black Vaer GMT yesterday and love it.
I’m loving my black Seiko , and the lume is so weird yet really cool. (Don’t mind the Coke’s, my workplaces storage is just perfect for lume shots🤣)
I’m patiently waiting to find the right one. I like scurfa and the momentum seaquartz.
Im not a big fan of watches with black metal bracelets, they just remind me of fashion brands. Black case with nato always looks good though.

I feel like Seiko gets a lot more courageous with the lume on their all-black watches. Awesome Seiko 5!

Agree, I had a black Fossil over 10 years ago. Enjoyed it back then, but would go for a NATO or silicone strap now. (Wrist shot from 2011 😱)
I have couple one is a modded one…I like ‘em but hardly wear them nowadays…
I think they’re fine for occasional fun. But I don’t think I could wear one every day.
I love mine Citizen Promaster ❤️
Had a black Pagani. The movement died after about 6 or 7 years long before the case showed any signs of wear. I wore it daily for work and play and performed a few engine swaps on my cars wearing it.
I’ve got a few black watches, the latest being a Seiko Prospex Samauri; the mint green markers and hands look incredible and really pop. I got a couple of small scratches on my Chopard Mille Miglia GMT Speed Black (which is 12 years old) but they are very small look fine (give character, although I think im the only one that can see them!). My CWC SBS is a block of granite though, and can take a beating. So don’t worry about them being more prone to scratches; you’ll be fine and black watches are a great addition to any collection! I’ll add some shots in the thread.
Here’s my CWC SBS; a solid beast that lives a change of NATO (orange in the summer looks great)
And here’s my Chopard MM GMT Speed Black; it’s iver 12 years old and the coating is starting to get a nice patina in areas, and I’ve only got one small scratch on the bottom left lug (only I notice it, can’t even see it in this shot!)
Damn now I want both of these in my collection... Thanks, thanks a lot! 😂
Haha you're very welcome! But that's definitely one of the side effects of this app 😂
I don’t like “blacked out” watches. Except for some of the Seiko’s which you have posted.
And that Tudor, Vaer, Glycine that others have posted.
Okay maybe I like “blacked out” watches that are nice looking to me, just as much as any other case color/material. It’s just that in a sea of steel (silver) options, “blacked out” is quite unique.
Yeah, I'm also not sure 😂 I like the look of some of them, but then again I'm not sure how often I'd actually wear one 🤔
Love my black watches, my absolute favourite is my U-Boat Classico U-1001 dive watch… don’t come much blacker than this limited edition beauty!
U-Boat isn't a brand you see very often, nice to have a pic posted 👍
Just afraid of scratch when purchasing and wearing PVD or DLC coated, i will only choose Ceramic for back case watches 🤣
Haha I wish I had the extra cash lying around to only go for ceramic watches 😂 which one's your fave?

Ive noticed they go for quite a bit under RRP at the moment 👍
I too love the black series of watches. I wear my alpinest all the time. The black coating seems to be holding up well so far.

Pretty stealthy group you have there, really cool👍
Thanks, I think I have lume addiction issues. Ha ha
