Honestly I don't understand some of the smartwatch hate, I own a hybrid smartwatch, and it's just a tool for a different purpose than "real" watches. If I'm working out I'd rather wear my smartwatch, but if I want to pair something with an outfit or simply sit on the sofa and stare at a pretty thing on my wrist all day I'll wear a traditional watch

I don't like that they're called watches, they are computers. Just because you strap something to your wrist doesn't make it a watch. That said I understand people wearing them, they just aren't for me.
To me, as long as a square G remains looking like one & sized like one, it could have as much tech as they want. I'm sure it wont be any less bomb proof.
this is the g shock im waiting for
Ah finally! Hopefully here this summer!
I would agree, I would classify this as tech along with my Apple Watch. However, not sure if this, or any smartwatch deserves all the hate. Just a different type of Watch used for different purposes.

You can shut off the hear rate monitor and use the watch like a standard Gshock with 12 months battery life on a full charge.
If you want to use the HR monitor and other features, it will function like any other other fitness watch and will last you 2-4 days depending on your usage.

May release in Japan. Other region release dates are not announced yet but should make it soon to every market in summer.
What we need is a watch with a mechanical heart rate monitor. 🙂 🙂
Nice. I hope Casio will improve the software/ app part of it too.

As far as I'm concerned, everything you put around your wrist and tells the time is a watch.
That being said, even though I own a Samsung galaxy smartwatch, I don't like it. But this is mainly because I have to charge it every day (and I don't like all the notifications, but fortunately you can turn those off).
So back to this watch. I think for me this can be the best of both worlds. I just hope it has a vibration alarm.
BTW. Here's an English video about it.

A G-Shock digital display that you can actually read? Preposterous! 😜
I have zero hate for smart watches, but with the heart rate monitor, this G-Shock feels more like a fitbit or an Apple Watch.
I wear my Apple Watch when I work out or when I'm on vacation with the kids as a communication device. Soon, I think the G-Shocks will be able to take calls and text messages.
Thinking about getting one🤔
love this watch
