Feeling a bit cheated after buying a watch from #watchmaxx on ebay three days ago

I recently purchased a Baume and Mercier Riviera from the NY based seller Watchmaxx, after making several offers which they declined all, they offered a price that was their best, I accepted and paid, next day they offer the same watch for sale at the prices I was offering a day earlier. That left a very bitter feeling inside me to be honest. I hope the watch will erase that when it is delivered.

This sucks; I hope the watch is great, so that you won't be thinking about it a year from now.

·

I would see if they would refund difference of price or return watch.

·

Some sellers have an automated system that adjusts their selling price to beat or match the lowest price from other sellers.  That said, it's only $50 less on an amazing watch.  Congrats.

·

Thank you all for your kind words. You're right it only 50 usd.

·

Even if it's only about fifty dollars. I can understand your bitterness. I think you should talk to them about it so that they find a compromise.

·

This is the norm in the fashion industry. I've purchased a few watches from online retailers, and seen their prices fluctuate by 50% from week to week. I mean literally costing $300 versus $600, so there can be huge relative differences. I've also seen some products sell for say, $300, while other case/face colors sell for $900. So, a $50 hit on a $1,900 item wouldn't cause me too much concern.

Best of luck with the watch.

I negotiated and made several offers . Some were above their now asking price . Yesterday , I sent them a message to inform them how they made me feel when they listed the same watch the following day for a lower price . My message is still unreplied to .

·

Looks like it’s subject to free returns.  Return it and buy one at the price you want to pay.

·

I will just post it to the reviews of the seller. It might be a good lesson for them

·

I don't blame you.  That's not a good way to do long term business and keep your customers coming back. I will try to return and buy for the original price or ask for the difference.  I would feel the same way.

·

Hope they respond to your request. I would try to call them. I've purchased from them (directly) several times and they've always been great to work with

·

Thinking of it, I am more excited about the delivery of the watch later on today  🙂

·

Yea, it's just $50. Don't let it get to you. Enjoy your new watch. $50 is not worth the hassle of returning and trying to rebuy then waiting for delivery all over again. Dealing with grey market, this, from what I've seen, is the norm. Still seems like you got a good deal.

·

First, congrats!

Similar to buying or selling a stock; avoid looking at the prices once you pull the trigger.  As others said, most likely automated to respond to market conditions.

·

Congrats on the watch! Hope you get many years of fun with it!

Not quite sure why you feel ’cheated’? You were ok with the price you paid? They put the price down afterwards. But you were ok with the price you paid. Does it really make a difference to you if the price goes up/down/stay the same afterwards? Just enjoy it and ‘meh’…

·

Lots of wisdom in here 👍

·

They price watches at what the market will bear. You negotiated their benchmark price for them. Its a falling market.

·

Then think twice before pulling the trigger on a #christopherward . The week after you order one, a sale will happen

·

they are as bad or worse than Jomashop. I'm sorry they f*cked you like that...but I hope you like the watch. Otherwise just return it

·

I'm generally of the belief that you shouldn't worry too much about getting the exact best deal with regards to these things.  In a falling market, you're basically going to be chasing your own tail if you keep wondering about the next best deal.

Enjoy the watch when it arrives and don't worry too much about the rest of it.

That said, if you're really sour, return it on their dime and order another one.  I guarantee it will cost them far more than the $50 they could have refunded.

·

That is a nice watch. I wonder if there are people around who paid 2750, quite likely, or maybe got 10 percent off for cash?

·

They now relisted the last watch they have in stock at a price that is higher than what I paid. Seems lije they were making limited special offers when I got mine.
