Combination of needing a possible service and phasing. The 214 were designed to run on a 1.35 mercury battery so a much lower voltage.
You can use the accucel batteries which are diode in a holder to reduce a standard 1.5 battery.
I have a 214 but I must confess I’ve still not attempted a service on it despite it really needing one. Plan to video it for my channel
There’s not one. I have 3 218. Bulova and 2 Citizen Hisonic which also use the accutron 218 under licence back in the 70s. I buy them dead and have learnt to repair and service them. I find any interesting approach to timekeeping fascinating.
