Christmas Watch?

Kind of a weird topic but does anyone have a specific watch they wear around the holidays? Maybe a watch that gets you in the christmas spirit. I’m wondering because I stumbled across a picture of a Grand Seiko Rikka on IG and instantly thought “christmas watch”. I know it’s actually inspired by the foliage of Japan in the summer but there’s something about the deep green dial that reminds me of christmas trees and the gold accents of the star on top. Even the Grand Seiko logo is in a gothic style font like the sign of an old toy store.

Might just be overthinking things but please share if you have similar thoughts.

I see the Christmas vibe. Unfortunately I don’t have any holiday specific watches. Although, now I’m wondering why not?

Nope. All my watches are for anytime of the year.

Grand Seikos look so good!

I usually wear an old Tissot Seastar my father in law gave me for Christmas one year. He wore it often for decades. I would say it's a cool idea to but a Christmas watch now 😉 Make it Christmas un July !!!!

Every day is Christmas when your family name obliges you to wear red-and-green plaid year-round...

(as discussed here https://www.watchcrunch.com/sagebrush/posts/custom-tartan-strap-from-aaron-bespoke-45717)

But if I have one watch specifically set aside for December it's this pink guy with the purple strap at the bottom here.

Watch and strap together didn't cost more than $100; I picked out this odd colour scheme to resemble the Advent wreath which is deployed in Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran churches at that time of year.

Funny thing about GS, you seldom see Japanese wearing them. I’ve been lucky enough to visit for business & pleasure many times & all you really see is Rolex. I think all this, “inspired by the…”, is just a marketing ploy for the western market. Great watches though. Just don’t mention, “Zaratsu”, or I’ll scream!

If Father Christmas wore a watch it’d be this 😂

I mean loads of us have summer/beach type watches… so why not a Christmas watch..

such a good idea 😂🙌🙌

Thx for reminding me to not wear a watch that I am still attached to during the holidays! Family members like to try on some of my watches just for fun, if the watches have served me well enough and can be appreciated better by a new owner, I take the opportunity to say a fond farewell. My wife insists it is my sneaky routine for making allowance for a next watch.

You make a valid point about Japanese and Grand Seiko. My daughter and son in law along with 5-6 other young couples planned a vacation trip to Japan this spring to help one of their unmarried couple friends enjoy a last blast before their “I dos”. The future groom was looking for a specific GS spring drive model but was unsuccessful after visiting several GS boutiques. His future father in law was able to locate one in Taipei, Taiwan delivering it to Canada for his daughter’s wedding. The young man who trims my hair does not wear a watch but he and his lady flew to New York just to source their special order Harry Winston wedding rings. His father builds concept dining businesses around the world was wearing a Laurent Ferrier on the single occasion that I met him when he stopped in Toronto. I was curious how a young guy opens 4 upmarket salons in the high rent areas in Toronto? Financed in part by the Bank of Mom and Dad. The dad’s assistant was wearing a Rolex Sub, apparently Rolex watches are ok if they are not modern. The Japanese define cool.

I have a red Orient Kamasu that's perfect for Christmas!

I think as long as it's on a dark color leather strap any watch can be a Fall/Winter styled watch, but that forest green GS in the cover photo looks fantastic
