Gooday Crunchers!

I bought this Citizen at a fleamarket somewhere and by sizing the intergrated bracelet one thing led to another, I did remember still having some spares crystals because the mineral crystal was badly scratched. End of story this let's say"used" watch got a new sapphire. Looks great though, but the question arises, what to do with the bezel?

There are some gold tone leftovers still holding on to the bezel, I was thinking of perhaps brushing the bezel? Or leave it as is? Please let me know your thoughts!

I think usually when the bezel is gold plated they have to nickel plate it first for adhesion. You could lightly polish off the remaining gold with a 3000 grit sandpaper but I think if you go through the nickel it’s usually a dingy gray base metal. So the deeper grooves are there to stay.

Something I’ve been pondering with these old banged up up bezels is the possibility to fill and smooth them out, and then either paint or powder coat them.

Diamond polish the bezel, then replate it with nickel. That new sapphire deserves a well-kept neighbor.

Can you not live with it. I quite like the well used look.

Have you looked into electroplating? It’s not difficult and you can pick up all the components for a few hundred US dollars. Wrist watch Revival did a few case restorations not long ago and explained the process.

Ive done copper electroplating on to glass for various projects over the years. Once you get set up anything is possible.

I watched the same videos from WWR. I’ve thought about it. It’s not off the table.
