Do you have any cool sayings, quotes, or other personal items on your case backs?
Buying (another) Lorier, I knew I would want to take advantage of their easy process and elegant, plain case backs. Their connection to New York, my birth city, sorta sealed the deal. But what to put on the back??? Like we're not obsessive enough as it is in this hobby!
As many of you probably know by now, Lorier's renowned not just for their timeless mid-century designs, but also their amazing customer service. I emailed Lauren a couple times to make sure my designs would work. She confirmed, which I'm glad because I wrongly assumed they could only do predetermined type faces. Being a branding guy, I knew I could supply them with the right type of file of my design for engraving!
I ended up taking my family crest and making a cleaner, simpler, more modern version of the crest/coat of arms. The design reminds my of my heritage as well as my upbringing in New York and Miami. It also speaks to my passion for branding and graphic design. I ordered the Hyperion GMT during a recent restock because I know live in Mountain Time and most of my family and many clients are back in Eastern Time. I know I don't really need a GMT for that… It's more about the sentimentality. It's also a piece I don't worry traveling with and I do a lot of that.
You can see from the pics that it turned out great. I even made some mockups in Photoshop to test out my design and needless to say the final was WAAAAY better!

I engraved this beauty into the back of my GMT.
It is the Greenwich Observatory, the original GMT time and that is my way of honoring the watch’s purpose.
