Sweet spot

The watches in the picture are Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date, Traska Commuter and Seiko SPB051 and they currently sit in my watch sweet spot. What do I mean by that?

Cost

These watches cost around 500€ each when bought lightly used. Many normal people would think 500€ is too much for a watch but watch freaks are just getting started at that price. The cost means you can save for a few months and order one. If you get bored of the watch you can more easily find a buyer (at least here in Finland). Trying to sell your Seamaster/ Speedmaster/ Submariner can take a while if you aren’t pricing it well under market.

Specs

I have found that stepping into this 500€ price bracket you get many upgrades.

  1. Better movement (6R15, PM80)
  2. Better bracelet (solid end links, milled clasps)
  3. Scratch resistant coatings
  4. Sapphire glass

Usability

I know my Seamaster can be taken into water but for me it is not something I’m going to do but this Seiko has been swimming many times without a care in the world.

What is your sweet spot for watches?
