Just watched a video on the Grand Seiko SBGX261 and boy oh boy is that one amazing watch. For a while I was unaware of how much actually goes into a high end quartz movements and always thought it was a rip off. I cannot believe the incredible specs the watch has.
Adjusts the movement 540 times per day according to ambient temperature
In house grown quartz
100 meters of water resistance
Self regulating second hand so gravity does not pull it and it lands perfectly on the second marker
There is so much more to the watch that I am missing but I am mind blown at how much a quarts watch can be and do. The price is also pretty amazing, truly a bang for it’s buck.
What are your thoughts on Grand Seiko quartz movements and other quarts movements from big name brands?

I have the 9F 60th anniversary and love it. The watch is amazing and there is something special about the 9F, so I say go for it.
I love GS quartz. After 10 months of wear mine has only gained 3 seconds.

I want that watch sooooo bad! How is it on the wrist?
I absolutely love my 9F Quartz. Super comfortable, thin, incredible strap monster.
I feel like GS 9F Quartz are the best deals in all of watches!

This is definitely the watch I want for my next purchase!!!!

If chronometer certifications we’re awarded to non Swiss made watches seiko would be first to get it

What a beautiful dial. Grand Seiko never ceases to amazing me with their dials!
The F9 quartz is very cool 😎
My 9f is a go to watch for trips, weekends and days where I need two time zone tracking. could be a GADA. It still looks pristine after a couple years wear.
I have the SBGN003 and I absolutely LOVE it. I love the fact that GS quartz is =”if you know, you know”
if you know all the details that you have described above you know the value of that movement ^^ if you don’t…oh well sorry but you are missing out :P
To me a connoisseurs’ watch/movement.

The watch is great on the wrist. I have a 6 3/4 inch wrist and the size is spot on. I will say if you are someone who has issues with scratches and dings on watches do not buy a Grand Seiko. That polishing will scratch if you just look at the watch.

Thank you! I have a 6.5 inch so would probably be good. Scratches Don't really bother me either. Thank you for the info, there is nowhere here where I can try that on so it helps a lot.
i recently bought an sbgx265, the blue dialed jdm version, and love it for these reasons:
things that would make it perfect:
this was my first foray into the world of high accuracy quartz watches. my second is the citizen chronomaster AQ4020-54y: more accurate than the gs, eco drive, titanium, perpetual calendar, similar price!
I recently upgraded from the 261 to the SBGN003... not too sure if im happy with it as I had such a bond with the 261. But oh well.

I love the look of the bezel

Agreed 🤝🏼
Photo from internet as don’t have watch to hand (on permanent loan to my dad], but the SBGX295 (JDM model) is my favourite. Blackened markers give it a subtler look, but increase contrast.
These are awesome.
It is truly interesting and I like unique quartz watches but if I am spending thousands of dollars on a watch esp a grand seiko I think I would personally just go with a spring drive.
That being said I like Bulova's 262 khz movements like they use in the curv and precisionist lines. They offer something unique in the quartz sphere of watches for a much more affordable price.

That is the best looking grand I've seen so far!
Many people don't get that there are levels of quality in quartz. My Seiko tuna diver used the legendary 7c46 movement. It's a metal construction that can be serviced.
It was designed because Japanese saturation divers were finding that their mechanical watches were breaking on those deep dives.
i like the idea of never having to change the battery

It is quite unique in my opinion.
