Love the old school, but when it comes to watches I roll quartz most of the time. Looking at a digital watch reminds me of being a kid with my first Casio...the height of 80's cool with a calculator watch, or neon Freestyle while playing tennis. I can appreciate beautiful mechanical movements, high polished bracelets and luxury dials (love my Omega Seamaster) but will always be Casio Fanboy at heart!
I buy watches around "life changes" ie. Getting engaged, married, new job, buying a boat, big vacations etc. Almost everytime I pull a watch from my box, I get to relive that memory. I don't get hung up on brands (except Casio) and always feel a bit funny when wearing expensive brands. I shouldn't...but really don't wear watches to "flex" and prefer to be understated and chill.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Casio of course!
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Don't get hung up on status. I make a good living and can afford exponentially more on watches, but rather make good investments in real estate and retirement accounts versus what I wear on my wrist. No hate here...if you like it, roll with it.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
