Repair or Retire?

I have well worn quartz Tag Heuer aquaracer in my collection that was in my wrist for 15+ years before rekindling my interest in mechanical watches. The battery needs to be replaced (skipping seconds and pausing) and the bezel has seen better days. No sentimental value to the watch (gift from college girlfriend). Should I repair or retire the watch?

This could be a good small project you can easily do yourself.  Replace the battery, and touch up the bezel by hand with some polish.  I will cost almost nothing to do.

Nekked Watchmaker on Youtube gives a rundown on how easy it is to refurbish a #tagheuer #quartz movement here: https://youtu.be/Y79z2MBGaL0. Doesn't seem too difficult. Don't let the title put you off. His assertion is the #moonswatch has a similar m ovement.

Thanks for the idea!

Obviously repair.

There is always a need for a beater watch. (golfing, tennis, wood-chpping ...)

Unless there is a significant other who doesn't want this gift from a college girlfriend around, I would certainly repair.

15 years... I don't know, that's quite a while, perhaps you have some other memories or feelings attached to the watch? Regardless I still think it'd be nice to keep around, running.

I'm not one to keep stuff just because.

If you truly have no attachment to it, see what you can get for it and put that $ toward something else.

Repair for sure.  It's a TAG, so it has value.  Junking it would be a waste.

I would fix it. There is a story behind the watch. Unless it the kind that you don’t want to be remembered.😅
