What would make your almost-perfect watch truly perfect?

I have a fairly small collection of watches I love. Sometimes I wonder to myself, "if I could keep only one, which would it be?" Without hesitation, m...

I think some people train themselves to read 24-hour time on against a dial without reference numerals. Some can quickly glance at the hand's position and go, "almost 19:00" the way most do the same with a 12 hour hand.

If that's not how you work, the premium options open up more since a rotating bezel will do what you need.

You're right about GS. It's a shame their more compact GMT's have fixed bezels. It's the biggest complaint I have about what used to be my favorite watch.

Unless you like to read the 24-hour hand based on dial position (like we naturally do with the 12 hour hand), I find a rotating 24-hour bezel gives you the "caller" functionality with less fuss

The Omega 9906 doesn't give you much to look at in the way of gear train and moving parts, but the spiral striping is fun. I like how it radiates from the center of the balance wheel

The IWC Timezoner collection falls in this category for me. I think they look cool, and turning the bezel to interact with the movement's time zone changing function is so satisfying. But they're too expensive and way too large for me

This is Rafa. He likes boxes the way I like watches

I think these Strat-o-timers are seriously impressive given their relatively low asking price. Not only do they play the usual microbrand game of "checking all the boxes" for features and specs; they do it with a lot of the overlooked intangibles like refined, mature design, nice tactile feedback from all the interaction points, good feel in the hand, etc. I've been following the brand pretty closely the past few months, and they seem confident in their pursuit of becoming a staple in the enthusiast market. I'm curious to see what their next product line will be.

All that said, I think I'll be upgrading this WatchCrunch Strat-o-timer to a Longines Zulu Time in the next couple weeks. This was meant to satisfy the craving I've had for the Zulu Time, but I think most of us know that just never works. :)

I had to downsize my collection to get it, but my choice would be the new Speedmaster '57. It has all of my favorite features rolled into a single perfect watch for me
