Yeah I unscrew it to release some pressure after my boss leaves my desk. Thank goodness for this marvel of technology, it really is the ultimate toolwatch. I wish they made it even bigger so it was easier to grip.
Couldn't you also simply unscrew the crown in a decompression chamber?
No idea. I just wear divers. Never been close to the depths where this would be necessary (if at all). I suspect everyone on here is in the same boat (pun intended)
I'm a retired desk diver. I own one diver with a Helium escape vavle. Why? Because I can lol. It's a novelty for me. However I can see why if you are a professional deep depth diver and need to be in a decompression chamber. Must be a real interesting job you have.
I'm an extremely lucky guy and very safe helium-wise, as I have a SMP where I can manually calibrate my Helium level AND a 1665 Sea-Dweller where it happens automatically.
I wish that everyone would be as careful as I am! 😂

I have a Seamaster 300M diver but have never unscrewed the He valve. The question swirling around in my head just now is;
If I put the watch to my mouth whilst unscrewing the He valve & then inhaled, do you think I would speak in a high pitched fashion for 20 seconds? 😀😜
I do love my Seamaster👍

No. I call it "the wart at 10"...
Lol. 99% of the divers sold likely don’t even see the inside of a shower much less a swimming pool. But here we are.
Nerds hate asymmetry...
Love the He escape valve, aesthetically it's a crucial part of the SMP 😍👍🏻

I have one. Without it the SMP 300 is just another dive watch

If I'll ever be changed by an evil witch into a helium molecule I'll be very glad for the valve that will allow me a safe and speedy escape.
