I came across this review of the Pagani Design's homage of the Omega Moonwatch that rightly puts the Swatch/Omega Moonwatch to shame.

If anyone bought a MoonSwatch expecting more than a fun, playful and colourful occasional wear watch, they didn't properly manage their expectations.
There is a decided quality, and price difference, both in favor of the Pagani watch. Does being "fun and playful" outweigh that?
I saw this during the last sale on AliExpress and ordered one. I am now eagerly awaiting my very own Pagani Design Moon Watch. I think this variant should be called the "Capricorn One." 🤣

You're comparing a Dodge Caravan to a Mazda Miata. The Caravan is the more practical vehicle, as it has more people/cargo capacity, but it's kinda dull. The Miata is obviously not a practical car for moving people and things, but it's fun.
The MoonSwatch is a Miata, fun, colourful, and not meant to be taken seriously. The Pagani is a a Caravan with "cool" decals, practical, a bit dull, but trying to seem cool.
I don't care what people choose to buy, but the whole MoonSwatch bashing thing is trite at best.

I think I got your comparison using cars (I know nothing about that matter) and it has a point to consider, but looking for images of them I think you overvalued the moon-plastic-swatch too much and devalued the pagani-copy-design in the same proportion.

The point was that they are designed for different purposes, so they do different things well.
The whole point of the MoonSwatch is to have a fun, bright, officially licensed watch to wear around and enjoy. The Miata was a fun, sports car that had zero practicality, and was more about the look than actual performance.
The Pagani is trying to be "fun", while also being a practical daily wear watch. The Dodge Caravan was a minivan that Dodge tried to make "fun", but people actually bought them because they were practical and cheap.
I ordered an Aliexpress PD1701 v3 back in February and am not disappointed in the least! I know it isn't an "official" Moonwatch, but then again neither is the MoonSwatch ... and I don't have anything against the MoonSwatch either, it's just that if you're going after the "look" or the "vibe" or whatever, then the Pagani is the better deal IMHO 😀
I own this exact model. IMO it is far better executed that the "Officially Licensed" MoonSwatch. Better quality materials, arguably better quality movement and for far less than half the price.
