Let me share the battle I have inside my head..

Good afternoon to everybody Crunchers!

I have to say it has been a great first week here:)

There has been something that bothered me for a long time. I am a type of guy who hates to overpay, for example I would never pay more than 20€ for a tshirt or 50 for some jeans. I try to always find the best price/quality option. Probably it’s because I am an immigrant with a regular job and I am scared of spending too much (although sometimes I do).

So I apply the same logic to watches, at first I fell in love with Invicta because it’s an automatic watch, 200m of water resistance for an insanely low price of 69€ compared to fossil watches that are fashion with awful specs. But then, as I started learning more about watches, I have seen so much hate towards Invicta that now, even though I do feel like I could get a nice diver for a fairly low price, and logically it’s a great choice, I feel bad for even considering buying it.

I feel “scared” that if I buy it and I meet someone that understands watches - I would feel kind of ashamed of wearing Invicta Pro Diver..

I was wondering if there are any other people who feel the same? Maybe it happens to me because I am young and just started in the watch world, and I don’t want to make any “wrong moves”.

I like the look of the Pro Diver, and specially value for buck, but then just because it’s Invicta I feel like saving up a little bit and getting an Orient diver, or maybe a Seiko. I wish I had a big wrist to be able to wear a Duro, but although I am 198cm tall my wrist are smaller than my girlfriends 😂.

Are my feeling just a phase? I also feel like I want to buy “all the watches”, then I open my banking app and see that I can afford only one and only because soon it’s my birthday, and then I spend hours trying to find the best place, price, watch… Is it some kind of trap, am I going crazy?..

Btw, if I buy one more watch I will sleep on the couch… (her words)

I feel like the hate towards Invicta is because of their other models, Pro Diver is actually quite good and you get a lot for your money, including a Seiko movement.

·

Very simple solution. - Don't dive down to 200m below the surface.

The first big advantage to that is that you'll remain alive. Which is honestly quite nice.

Secondly, you can choose from way more watches that will also be lighter in weight and in my opinion look better too.

Casio have thousands of models. Not just the duro. And actually some of them are 200m rated as well.

That’s exactly what I think, however, even though tue reason for the hate are the 60mm buckets they somehow sell, what get’s the hate eventually is the brand.. I also think I am overthinking, as 99% of the world has no idea what Invicta is, the just see a shiny watch tht looks like some watch they have seen somewhere 😅😂

I love this moonphase Casio, it was in my sight for quite a long time. However, you can’t find it in Spain..:(

·

Or spend a bit extra and you'll get some awesome quality and features that you won't find in the Invicta.

Ignore the automatic hype. All these are quartz because it's better in every way. Durability, accuracy, weight, cost, features, etc.

I've seen a lot of hate towards invicta but not that one 😀. If you like it and it didnt break the bank then you should go for it. When i started this hobby i remember admiring my friend's rolex sub but didnt have a budget for it and ended up with orient diver after some research. Its well made, fits the budget, got a decent water resistant, etc and im wearing it with proud

Actually I think the Boldr is auto

A Casio collection is literally the best collection. 😅

Throw some Citizen in there and you're golden. 😊

If you bump into a watch enthusiast they are likely to compliment you on your choice of a Pro Diver. I've seen very little negativity about that model, or the 1953.

Also, if you meet someone who makes a negative comment about your watch, it just shows you up front that they are not the kind of person you want to be associated with.

Yeah same here. I order a lot from abroad.

Who gives a crap about of peoples opinion. Put what you want and like on your wrist. Price or brand doesn’t matter. If you like and it makes you smile, it’s the watch for you.

I love these ideas you are sending me! Thank you a lot! My only issue is I have a thin wrist.. I have seen a Seiko Kinetic green dial on Ebay for 100$ when it retails at 250+! But it’s 43mm… I can’t pull it off.

And as for automatic watches, I think it’s more of the respect for the industry, I am amazed how such a small object can be so complex, the craftsmanship in automatic watches is insane for me!

I think this would save me from the feelinf of wearing an “homage” watch. I always “made fun” of people who wear fake clothes, watches, shoes, I always thought that if it’s not within your budget just don’t go for it.. I wish this Pro Diver had a little less recognizable design haha

The Boldf you sent looks awesome! I love the combinatiom of colours!

·

I don't dislike some invicta to be fair. I quite fancy the 1953 which gets pretty good reviews. Good value I reckon and enthusiasts will know its a sound choice. No one else will care or even notice!

·

It's on-sale on Prime Day for $48! 😮🤯😬

·

I have two pro drivers I love them one the same as the picture and it in gold as well it’s only watch snobs that look down on them I did the same about feeling a bit embarrassed about them after watching all the hate on YouTube for them but most people don’t care and I always get compliments about my gold one and saying that’s to nice to wear to work it’s the cheapest watch I own haha

Here in Spain it’s 70€ so 80$, if it was 49$ I would definitely buy it, no brainer

I have an amphibia and a komanderski that has amphibia specs so 200m etc.

I wear them both quite a lot and they haven't scratched up at all. Polymath does the job if they do scratch I'm told.

To be honest I know everyone bangs on about sapphire but I have an Orient Kamasu that has it and a Ray 2 and Mako 2 that don't and I can't see or feel any difference? Some people seem to obsess over it!?

Well I personally have scratched all my watches that are not sapphires, maybe it has to see with me being quite clumsy at my 100+kg weight😂 And Komandirskie do look great to me, as well as Amphibia

Sheesh, maybe we are overthinking too much hhahah it’s a good choice then

·

The Invicta Pro-Diver is a great watch. Wear it. Love it. Not give two sh!ts what anyone else thinks or sez about it.

If you like it go for it and apart from my longines my gold one is the most accurate timekeeping more so then my other seiko and everything lines up unlike my £800 seiko rock face it’s only mineral glass but I wear them for work as a joiner and it’s still ok

Oh my if I spend 800£ on a watch with mineral glass I would buy a screen protector for it hahahahah

For the money they good there not perfect the bezel is a bit stiff and hard use when you are in the water

Buy and wear what YOU like. The watch world has a lot of gatekeepers. You’ve discovered one type of them.

99% of the people you meet won’t notice or care about your watch. Enjoy that, and don’t let the 1% ruin it for you.

·

I wish some one told me when I started in watches what I am about to say to you. I started with the Invicta from all they good reviews but found it to get old fast. There is way to much branding on it, at first you over look it and with time it really starts to annoy you. Then you realize there are a lot of other watches at the same price or slightly higher with allot better specs. If it must be under $100 go with a Pagani Design, you atleast get a sapphire Crystal all the same enternals. But if you can squeeze out another $50 you can get into a seiko 5 on eBay everyday of the week. All 3 watches I have here all cost me less than $150 each .

Bryan thanks for saying that! I thought that ir would happen to me, I actually ordered Vostok Amphibi just now, and as for seikos 5s that you have - I did find a few for 120-130 euros, but they get sold really fast, so I better save some money and start monitoring second hand market. I like the ones you have, but the older 5s don’t appeal to me:)

Same I’m into the newer 5’s the quality is worlds above things like Invicta and Pagani. I’m not saying those are bad, but it’s not something your going to keep for more than a year and not have the urge to move up 💁🏻‍♂️. I have my fill on Seiko at the moment, I may add just one more. For now I am looking into getting a Hamilton Murph 38 or a Squale 1521. It’s been fun and learning on the way makes your future choices that much better!

Well, if you feel bad about wearing an Invicta.....you can feel bad with all the MILLIONS of them that are worn everyday by sensible people. Go ahead and wear that Invicta with pride. I have 5 of them and love them all. Wear the watch, don't let the watch wear you.
