Aviation Icons

I am a huge fan of tool watches and aviation. I always think back to the scene from Dunkirk with Tom Hardy calculating his fuel endurance thanks to his watch. I couldn't think of a better pairing than these two. Arguably the most ionic plane from WWII (on this side of the pond at least). The stories you hear and the incredible rate of development of this plane was mind blowing. Was fortunate enough to sit in a working one.

And then Breitling, a watch brand steeped in history with their incredible chronographs and introducing a two pusher system. Even more amazing was their Huit division. Designing and manufacturing clocks and chronographs for plane cockpits with 8 day power reserves, hence the name Huit (French for 8). They provided such instruments for the RAF.

This is Premier 1, I believe, from the 1990s. I love the vintage inspiration for the numerals and the contrasting colours to the dial. It has a rather small dimensions compared to todays Breitlings but that is why I love it. Sits so well on my wrist.

That is a phenomenally awesome Breitling.
