A quick note of praise for the King Seiko, which is, to my wrist, a stunning bit of sculpture that fits perfectly in every dimension. These were pretty polarizing when they came out, with people confused by the price, movement choice, and the reintroduction of the King Seiko brand to further confuse Seiko’s mid-tier hustle, but all that arm-chair product-planning nonsense goes out the window when you wrap one of these around your wrist and admire it on its own terms. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

I love the look of the new King Seiko watches! They took what I love of their watches from the 70s, beefed it up and made it for the contemporary style. The brutalist style case and bracelet and boxes sapphire crystal! ❤️

Seiko SPB291 and it's a Seiko Boutique exclusive model so you have to find a dealer to purchase one.

This version with the purple dial has an 1800 MSRP but it’s easy enough to get at a solid discount. The standard dial variants are 1700 MSRP and even easier to get for less. Seiko just released additional versions that are slightly larger and include a date complications and those are a bit more expensive.
