Quartz watches for the month day 8!
I know what some of you are thinking, that's an automatic! Lol it does look like it's an automatic but it's seiko's kinetic movement. A rotor to charge up the battery. I forgot when I got this, it was a while back and I did have to get the battery changed one time. I really thought kinetic came before spring drive but good old Google told me I was wrong. Spring drive had a prototype in 1982 and the kinetic prototype was in 1986. This is probably my favorite seiko with its tonneau shaped case (HEY! Is that a Richard Mille?) and that super cool dial layout.

I never quite understood why spring drive got positioned as this ultra luxury mechanism for time and then kinetic didn't, the technologies are confusingly similar

Thanks! You know I'm starting to think that they made kinetic as a more affordable movement to the spring drive
I used to have it and it was one of the watches I owned that received more compliments. My cousin, who’s like my brother, liked it a lot so I gifted it to him.
Even spring drive is quartz regulated by electricity, so go quartz, was and still is the future. Some people just like to complicate themselves, including me.

Mine was released around 2010 (snl017) but you may still find some floating around. Here's the original from 2000!
