In the last minute I decided to put on the bracelet instead for traveling, so we had a little bath.
How and how often do you clean your watches?
Sorry about the bad picture quality it looked better on the phone ๐

Like this? Not to at often at all. I wipe down the watch I wore for the day when I come home and if there is additional build up I have an ultrasonic cleaner on standby
I wash watches with bracelets and those with rubber very often with soap and water, but I do not take the bracelet apart.
I donโt I like em filthy ๐

I don't do that very often either, this time the bracelet was off anyway so it was a good excuse for a deeper cleaning. And also, I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner.

Couple of times per year maybe ๐ฌ

It's way more better than nothing! I saw a video by a watchmaker who measured and old Rolex Sub before and after servicing and cleaning. Just the dirt weighed several grams, I don't remember the exact number, but it was quite shocking ๐ฎ
Unless I go swimming at the beach, and then with water only, never.

What brand do you use for the ultrasonic cleaner. Iโve been looking for a non water based approach to cleaning the gunk in my GMT1 gmt bezel.

Because I always gently wipe my watches after back home from work so itโs not too dirty and itโs only need washing like this 1 or twice per year only
I clean my watches when I notice that they are dirty... Waterproof watches get cleaned with a soft toothbrush, lukewarm water and a drop of dish soap. Bracelets come off for an ultrasonic cleaning. Thorough drying drying later, reassembly and continued enjoyment.
Non waterproof watches get wiped down with microfiber cloth. If there's some stubborn gunk I'll use a toothpick or a brush.
I wipe it clean at the end of each day, and about once a month I clean them using a 'Watch it shine' kit.
That brings them up spotlessly and gives a very high shine to the polished finish.
Well worth the money.

Very well sir, this sounds like real care ๐ฅฐ

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out! ๐
In my jeans pocket, in the washing machine, set to cold & delicate, no spin. As long as its waterproof. My Mondaine won't even look at the machine.

Unique method to be true ๐. But if it works, and doesn't harm the watcv, why not?
Very circumspect!
Honestly the watches that are fitted to bracelets or rubber straps, just leave them on when I take a shower which is at least twice a day, am mindful of gaskets degrading, the watches that are fitted to good leather straps I will wipe down with a cloth brush the lugs and case with a soft bristle toothbrush. If I am changing straps I will clean the head of the watch before fitting a new strap. Recently when I stopped by one of my regular ads before Christmas was given a few cleaning kits designed for Cartier bracelet watches. The gent insisted that my regular method of showering with a watch was not effective gave me the kits to try. I did not want to trivialize his gracious offer telling him that I have received the kits in the past. Good intentions are always welcomed but the Cartier cleaning kit is not better than soap and water or toothpaste or even diluted dish detergent.

I don't believe in miracle kits either. I mean it's not a belief because the result is the same, if you just use hand soap or something expensive. I only believe in regularity.
Most of the time I bring my watches to the spa (only once at a time๐ ), so 2 in 1

Clever move! ๐
Every other day or so, I'll just dunk my wrist under the faucet while watching my hands and make sure the water gets under it. If I notice there's stuff on it that's not running off with the water, I'll grab a tooth brush and a tiny bit of soap. I exclusively own tool watches and don't really mind regular dirt or fuzz stuck to them. I only really try to get stuff off if it's gross or sticky.

I am glad a lot of caring people gather here (the others remain silent I guess ๐)

You tell this minor detail when selling to a new owner :) itโs true :)

I wouldnโt recommend submerging the watch head in an unltrasonoce cleaner Iโm sure I can come up with a laundry list of reasons, but I always advise clients and new team members not to do so.
