Size is an illusion

Two photos: the same camera, the same watch, the same wrist, the same day. The one on the right is how you see your watch, the one on the left is how others see your watch (without the mirror image, obviously). When people said that wrist shots make the watch look bigger I never realised it was to this extent.

It has always been so.

That’s what I told her!

It's as you say partly from the close up perspective but I would say even more because when you twist your arm to see the time, the wrist gets a lot narrower from how the bones in the arm are moving naturally.

In my opinion only the image on the right matters. That's how a watch looks to me, when my neighbours start paying for my watches then I will start caring about how it looks to them. Until then the it's the image to the right 😅

The narrowing through twisting is not something I was aware of. Putting the watch face on the inside of my wrist so that it can be seen without twisting gives almost the same view to me as other people get when it is on the outside of the wrist.

I agree, I only really care what it looks like to me. Which is a good thing because nobody else ever notices what I'm wearing 😂

At a certain distance, the mobile phone camera takes the actual size of the watch viz. your wrist. But once you move it closer, the cam becomes sort of like a fish eye lens, distorting the real size.

Somebody posted about this photographic distortion just yesterday: https://www.watchcrunch.com/Kayone73/posts/tips-for-accurate-size-representation-wrist-shots-392561
