Patek 5711-1A010 Blue or Rolex 116506 diamond baguettes

The current values are about equal. Do you wear them or just collect? If you wear then I say go with the one that you like the looks of more. If just for collecting I not sure.

One, that Patek looks like it's DLC LOL Probably could have made a better pic. Two, most people on this forum will offer you to get a timex or a seiko. That's been my experience here. Three, personally I don't like either one of these watches but if I had to choose by looks Daytona smokes the PP. However, as a watch in totality, I think PP is another level of a brand, heritage, history, etc. Can you actually divest out of douche watches and get something classy? An FPJ, a Romaine Gothier, Gronenfeld Bros? A 222 if it's gotta be a sports model? Even PP itself has watches that are less kitsch (that in-line perp calendar comes to mind). Or do you yearn for that recognizability by the herd?

In terms of looks i prefer the Patek. As you said, either choice will not lose you any money if investment is your goal.

If you don't wear them, I don't get the point. If you do, don't worry about the investment angle. Buy what appeals the most and enjoy wearing it.

The 5711 is 🤌. However getting a precious metal Platinum Daytona with baguettes 🤌🤌 in trade… I’d do that trade all day.

Definitely the Patek for me - but I’m biased having myself gone for an aquanaut and a golden ellipse in the past.

The Daytona is still very special of course. Love the colours. I’m not a huge fan of oyster bracelets in precious metal.

I really dont like the Nautilus, but i'm somewhat obsessed with the Platona.

In reality, these are two piece I will almost certainly never have the means to own, so don't listen to my opinion.

Patek will always be above Rolex. If you got it from the AD, you probably won't get a second one. Keep the Patek. Who needs Diamonds anyway👀

Very subjective, but for me, the Rolex is all bling with minimal substance. It's a $13k watch in an overpriced $100,000 suit. It demands attention.

The Patek is much more of the thinking-person's watch. Understated, but with a beautifully finished movement. It commands respect.

IF you want flashy bling "look at me", go for the Daytona.

IF you're interested in the mechanics, horology, and meet other watch nerds, stick with the Patek.

I think the Daytonas are a little basic - the platinum and diamonds would be lost on most except those interested in watches. And thos einterested in watches would likely prefer to see a Patek over another damned Daytona..
