Blue dial

Looking for a dress sporty watch. Love both these brands. What are your thoughts? Is the GS worth $1200 more than the new Nomos?

I say yes, but that's only because I've typecast myself as a GS fanboy!

You can get GS for significantly under MSRP, especially given the strong dollar. If you don't have an AD that will give you a good discount on GS, let me know and I can put you in touch with my guy!

Good luck, OP!

Oh thanks. I really like the Snowflake with the titanium dial but that’s even a little more. There is an AD fairly close to me I can go ask. I’ll take your guys information though if you don’t mind!

The movement alone, for me, justifies the price difference. And then probably the dial/case finishing, too.

·

I think the finishing of the case and indexes can justify the price difference. Both the movements are qually decorated and interesting.

·

Skyflake. Unless you like the Nomos better. 2 very different watches really.

·

I own the Ahoi Atlantik Neomatik and love it as a sporty dress watch. It also has an in-house movement which is amazing.

However, Spring Drive is a different level, so yes I’d say the price difference is justified.

·

Grand Seiko but I don’t have the knowledge to tell you why statistically. I just prefer the GS dial. Especially because the power reserve indicator makes me feel fancy.

I’d have to go with the Grand Seiko. Something about a Grand Seiko just speaks to my soul.

·

There are better deals on the used market as those 2 brands take a bath there.

You can get a Snowflake for a little over $4000. Check out Chrono24 and look for a JP dealer with a high number of positive reviews. Here’s one example. A few of us have had success this way. I got a titanium Winter for $4300

i m on the nomos side just based on the dial… but the spring drive movement is 😍

·

I would probably go for an aqua terra, but that Nomos looks great and could be picked up for less used.

·

Can beat the Nomos' Screwdown Crown!

·

Springdrive is amazing. Second hand sweep over the dial. Nomos design is good. Wish GS have Nomos design or Nomos have Spring Drive. Buy both.

·

GS because the power reserve on the dial

·

I'd go for the Nomos. I just like it better.

·

Have been holding both, I can assure you that might be the best $1,200 you ever spend

·

Any day of the week

·

It's a bit surprising the Nomos is that expensive relative to the GS. IMO you get a lot less watch for $4.6k on the Nomos, which makes $5.8k look like a bargain for what you get in the GS.

·

I agree with who says the Nomos is way too expensive compared to the GS. The finish and the movement of the GS are another level.

If the power indicator of the skyflake bothers you, you can look at the Omiwatari (SBGY007), similar blue dial, thinner (manual winding), but you are looking at ~8000$

·

I just love to watch the spring drive 😍 the way the second hand glides over the dail ... could just look at it all day long 😅

·

If you look both side by side, the GS would look miles ahead in terms of finishing and details in every aspect.

The Nomos does look premium but the finishing is pretty standard for watch at that price. Almost, completely polished with a simple dial. The premium comes in the form of the in-house movement which I would say why the watch commands that price.

GS is quite a bargain even at $1200 premium compared to Nomos for what you are getting in terms of quality and movement wise, a spring drive is just superior.

Personally, I have felt Nomos watches are slightly overpriced except for the club campus model. Its Made in Germany and makes sense why the cost is higher but some models like Ahoi doesn't make sense at that price range.

·

Is that all it is extra worth at least 3000 more than the no no nomas I mean nonmos nomos sorry sneezed while I writing that 🙄🤣sorry if you pic the nomos not for what I've said I'd just be sorry for you

💯I know my friend all jokes,I'm not that bad a GS nut just nut in general 🤣I like nomos 👌

·

Have you seen the Springdrive in action, in person? That sweep is mesmerizing. Not to mention the incredible finishes and the way it catches the light…. GS Springdrive all day.

·

I’m a Nomos guy and that might be my favorite current Nomos offering; but the main reason I’d go with Nomos in this situation is that I don’t find that GS to be particularly sporty.

Yeah I agree. The GS is more of a dress to casual watch. GS do have sporty watches but are pretty big and don’t offer the same style

There is a local dealer that has Nomos but they don’t have the new sky blue in stock
