Does your Cartier scratch easily?

Hi guys, I have my Cartier Tank Must for 5 months now and I've noticed tiny scratches starting to appear. I have been wearing it non stop and I did hear that scratches are bound to appear. Still, I thought I have more time before I notice it. ๐Ÿ™„ Its mostly on the bracelet though so I'm thinking of buying a leather strap or two and wear it that way on a day to day basis, save the stainless steel one for special occasions, just to save it from more scratches.

I would love to hear what are your experiences with Cartier in general?

Embrace the scratches, it's all part if the ownership,

But If it bothers you, Cape cod polishing cloths will remove the small surface scratches,

Looks awesome on your wrist btw ๐Ÿ‘Œ

ยท

Thanks!

Yeah, I guess there's no way around it so I'll just have to embrace it then. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thanks for the suggestion on the polishing cloth, I will check it out. ๐Ÿ‘

Unfortunately all Cartier watches with a bracelet are scratch magnets. You just have to learn to embrace it or replace the bracelet with an alternative, otherwise you won't wear it as often as you'd like.

That's a beautiful watch you have, it would be criminal not to wear it out of fear.

ยท

Just accept it, and if you want it shining again you can try polishing cloths or better bring it to watchmaker

ยท

My Cartiers all have minor swirly scratches on the case and bracelet. Took me a while but Iโ€™ve come to accept, even expect this. Beautiful Tank btw ๐Ÿค™โค๏ธ

I say, scratches in a watch are like wrinkles in the face. Either you accept them or life will be constant suffer. I want to believe that they add character to the watch.

It's a beautiful watch. Congrats!

ยท

I am afraid you scratch your hand than your watch

ยท

Every steel or gold watch is going to show small scratches when you wear them. Itโ€™s normal and natural. Wear it and enjoy it.

ยท

The watch is slowly maturing from a Cartier, into your Cartier.

The swirls are born out of you living your life. So I say: keep the bracelet on! Enjoy your beautiful watch. Embrace the patina and keep building memories with it. One day someone will love those memories of you, etched into the case forever.

I look at my wifeโ€™s Cartier watches, two are in fact more than 10 years old and show some wear but few scratches contrasted with my quite recent Santos watches. I mostly wear my Santos for dressy occasions and rotate a decent number of different watches, conclude that my wife is just more careful than I am when wearing a watch. My Santos on a croc strap and clasp does appear to be less scratched which makes sense since bracelet watches tend to bang around more.

Itโ€™s the polished metal. Itโ€™s going to show scratches (and finger marks). That said, they shine so nice ๐Ÿ˜Š

Santos is a perfect watch when you want to look elegant and put together, my husband also owns it and wears it on occasion. (he is, similar to your wife, more careful while wearing it and it look A LOT better than mine).

Thank you all for lovely comments. I think I'll keep wearing the bracelet because I love the way it looks and just embrace the "wrinkles and memories". ๐Ÿ˜

Lol! Our partners are always more perfect than us in ridiculous ways. I love your Tank. Last Christmas I went against my wifeโ€™s wishes and gifted steel Tanks fitted with bracelets to our two daughters so that they would stop bugging us about our Cartiers. I did pick the XL because I wanted the in house mechanical movements. They are large but my daughters are big girls living their own lives so they can always leave or share the watches with the men in their lives. Take good care!

The pleasure that awaits you when you have to have the watch serviced for the first time. When you receive the watch back, the mint condition it's been returned to you will leave you purring like cat that's won the world series of purring ๐Ÿฅฐ

Stainless steel picks up scratches. It's just a hard reality. But as others have said, it can be buffed / polished to reduce the effect. But to me, those little scratches on the metal don't bother me one bit. The only part I worry about being scratched is the crystal. I try to take extra care not to bang or bump my watches against walls, doorframes, etc.

But occasionally, it happens anyway. ๐Ÿ˜•

But if you're wearing Cartier, then it probably has a sapphire crystal, yes?

Sapphire is VERY scratch resistant, but not very shatter resistant. So bangs, bumps, and dings are usually no problem. Just don't ever drop it face first onto the floor. When a watch crystal is dropped from a height (more than about 2 feet!) and lands on the crystal face, it is VERY likely to shatter. But I'd say the chances of that happening are slim to none for most people. I mean, how often do you hold your watch in your hand? When I take a watch out of my watchbox, it goes straight on my wrist. When I take it off at the end of the day, it goes straight back to the box. And those times when I have taken the watch off to clean it, or to set it, I am usually seated at a table.

ONE THOUGHT ABOUT THE BRACELET: If you want to keep your Cartier OEM bracelet from being scratched, you could buy a 3rd party "compatible" stainless steel bracelet and swap it out. There are more than a few companies out there that make high-quality, inexpensive bracelets that would fit your Cartier. Just a thought. ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi. Im 99% sure a tank must of my next watch. The dial looks white in all the pictures and videos I see but I heard and read it's more of a silver. What would you call it? Also yeah getting straps and saving the bracelet sounds like a good idea

ยท

Those scratches will bother you less as time goes by. History. Love your #cartier
