Artem Sailcloth Straps Are SERIOUSLY Indestructible.

Being in this hobby/addiction, we sometimes tend to be abit scepticle on sponsored reviews.

Especially when it comes to watch straps that starts from USD85.

I mean it looks nice and all but you tend to question if it’s going to hold up. If it’s going to be worth your money. If you should just resist and use that money to buy another entry level Seiko 5.

On one stormy gloomy night, I decided to get one.

This is what the poor guy had to go thru;

  1. Straight use for a month. Like literally.

  2. Went for swims and exposing it to chlorine and sea water during this period.

  3. Went to work with it. I work in oil and gas/marine in a very humid country.

  4. Naturally I funked it up after a month of continuous use. Below are the steps I took.

  5. Soaked it in warm water for 12hrs

  6. Soaked it in soapy water the following 12hrs.

  7. Saw review on using baking soda & vinegar. Placed it buried in baking soda for 12hrs without the vinegar.

  8. Wanted to be 100% sure, I placed it in vinegar for another 12hrs.

  9. Realised that it was artificial vinegar, went to buy natural vinegar. Placed it in a concoction of baking soda and natural vinegar for 24hrs.

  10. Now the strap have a sour smell due to all the vinegar used. I placed it back again in a baking soda and water mix for 24hrs.

  11. Then place is in baking soda for 12hrs.

  12. Left it under the sun for a few days.

  13. Lastly use Febreze and let it sit for 12hrs.

It’s very clear I have no idea what I was doing but after going thru all that… IT LOOKS BRAND NEW!

The buckle, threads and the strap itself are unaffected.

It’s definitely worth the money.

IM BUYING MORE!

Artem Straps HydroFlex Strap Review

https://youtu.be/EPCkaPj_BE0

artem is definitely the real deal. After having a few I wouldn’t buy anything else for my watches

·

Agreed. Made my watch feel like a totally new timepiece

·

Takes a real man to break in one of their straps, not some grey haired, speccy, balding hasbeen like me.

·

Good pick with the contrasting stitch 👍did you get the buckle or the clasp?

·

I’ve seen a few Artem straps on WC that cracked and split where the strap goes through the buckle/keeper and I think the original sailcloth model is too stiff there to do well with the repetitive bending when taking on/off.

The loopless version however I do think is going to be essentially immortal because you don’t have that nasty bend to get it in the buckle. They’re nice straps although I can’t justify the price of their newer hydroflex line.

I won't be getting another one. I got one with grey stitching in 2021 and although it's high quality and looks great, it's waaay too stiff. I use the Artem RM style buckle that I bought with it on another strap now, and this has been in a drawer unused with the tang buckle back on for a while. Shame because it wasn't cheap. I stick to swapping between bracelet and curved rubber straps on my white Seamaster now.

Yeah I’d definitely recommend against the original design due to its stiffness and cracking issues, but I’ve heard the Loopless strap isn’t as stiff. It was plenty comfortable after a day or so to loosen it up.I might be with you though in that I’m not sure I’d buy again. They’re expensive and there’s too many other nice straps out there.

True! You need a barbarian to tame those straps.

I got the buckle cause that’s the only one I could get locally in a rush. I think the loop less version will be comfortable as hell.

Thanks! that’s a good tip! And yes the prices. 🫠

I have four Artem sailrstraps. Really classy straps which enhance the look of my watches. It’s good that they offer 19 & 22 lug widths and short lengths. I always find them a bit stiff out of the box but are very comfortable after a few days. Their ‘standard’ sailcloth are worth the money but not sure about their latest range which look expensive.

·

Got one before Christmas, was so impressed I've now got 3. Two tang and one loopless. The loopless is a little softer, maybe a little less padded, but all are very comfortable.

Also looking at FinWatchStraps, will try one & report back. Will be an interesting comparison.

Thank you!

Thanks for posting a real life review and apparent torture test 😆

I'm always skeptical when a higher priced product gets 100% positive ratings from reviewers on YouTube who got them free. They mean well, some of what they tell us is useful, but studio lighting and desk diving doesn't tell me everything I want to know. This is the type of anecdote/review that matters to me, been considering one that would work across a few different watches.

Haha! Honestly I was sceptical as well. Believe it or not the abuse seems to reset the strap. I need to break it in again. 😂

·

For those prices, they better be.

·

Great quality, but they aren't great for smaller wrists circa 16cm / 6"

I think they just recently announced a new small/XS size in some of their lineup.
