Alpina doesn’t get the respect it deserves for making a quality watch. I think one issue is that they make BIG watches, which are not as popular right now. The second, and IMO bigger issue, is that they don’t have an icon or heritage model to fall back on.
All good choices and we can fill a book with this. For modern brands, I’m going with Horage since they are trying to offer competitive movements and (relatively) more obtainable prices.

Bought my son a victorinox inox. An incredible watch. Looks good. Well made. Almost as tough as a Gshock. Not very far behind. Versatile. I don’t know why they’re not more popular.
