I wanted a true beater. I don’t consider my Hamilton Khaki Auto a beater. I genuinely love that watch because that’s where it all started and I want to have it for many years. I got this Timex Expedition for $26 (shipping and tax included) on eBay and it exceeded my expectations. I thought it was going to feel too too cheap but it feels great and the indigo backlight blew my mind! It came on a old beat up leather strap and I changed it to a field style I had laying around and yeah so happy to call this my beater. It’s exactly what I was looking for, a fun, legible and clean looking watch. And all that for $26 bucks!

I love me some good lume, but Indiglo will crush lume for nighttime legibility. My Expedition is my default watch for low light situations.

Exactly what a beater should be, where it's cheap enough that it doesn't matter if it gets bashed about. I have an expedition for my beater, (worn all this weekend while gardening) but mine has an ugly digital subdial so I'll never grow fond of it. I changed out the strap though, the original was the worst most uncomfortable strap I've ever had.
