The Background
I went from developing smartwatch faces, to swearing I wouldn't buy a watch because I would become addicted, to buying and modding a watch, then 3 months later a second, and now another month later a third. Hopefully it doesn't escalate further. I can't afford buying watches on a weekly basis.
When I picked up my Bambino last week, the jeweler informed me that I had a fairly sizeable credit. It just so happened that one of their more affordable watches was also on my list of affordable watches to collect: the Seiko SRPE03 King Turtle. With my credit in hand, a sizable discount to sweeten the deal, and the wife's blessing, the order was placed on Monday. This morning I was getting antsy and switched up my Fitbit to a Turtle homage face. It must have been good luck, because a few hours later I got the call! (Maybe I should have switched it to a Rolex and gotten extra lucky)
Initial Impressions
I will say that it's definitely the heaviest thing that's been on my wrist. But it's a good heavy. I would say it's more comfortable than my Fitbit even.
The bezel action is clicky in all the right ways (definitely going to become my new fidget toy).
The bracelet feels solid and comfortable, with only minor hair pulling.
I haven't been able to feel the rotor or hear the movement. The dial is immaculate and I love the waffle.
The lume needs some charging in the sun, but looks great when it's bright. At first glance the fit and finish seem great, but I'll definitely be taking a closer look this weekend when I have time.
All in all a great watch and I can check 2 of my 4 must have budget watches for my first collection phase. More pictures to come as this rotates in with my Casio as my everyday wrist wear. For now I'm just enjoying something new and crunchy!

Great choice! The grenade was one of the first watches in my collection too!

Thanks! Up next a custom built grail homage, an as yet to be determined chronograph, and a Baltic Aquascaphe.
That's quite the watch, congrats!
Thatโs a Terrific watch and awesome value for money!!!
Mine (exact same with uncle seiko bracelet) is one of my favorite pieces.

How does the Uncle bracelet compare to the original? Maybe ignorance is bliss, but so far the OE bracelet feels great!
The King Turtle is a heck of a watch. It is super sharp in design and is very rugged.

Mine came on the silicone/rubber strap. While very good and the better option for actual diving it is bulky.
The Uncle seiko stuff is very good and made to fit the case perfectly.

The uncle is just fine.
Stunning grenade dial. Oisin O'malley has a great vid on his You Tube channel on this piece. Well worth a view.

He hit all the great points about this watch. I'm lucky that I escaped bad cyclops alignment. My chapter ring is just slightly off, but if the cyclops was out I didn't think I could handle it
Likewise, I'm a bit OCD reg alignment too!
