New to the community. Just like hanging with other watch nerds. I still think a simple digital watch does what a watch is supposed to to, tell the time. After that, it's all personal preference.
For the last few months, I went full watch nerd. Hamilton Khaki with day/date function, Bulova Lunar Pilot, Citizen pilot watch, Bulova dive watch, an...
Sir, Accutime Watch Corp STW 1362. It pays homage to the original Star Wars; Luke, Leia, Han, Obi-Wan, 2 Tie fighters, and the Death Star on the dial. I'm not an IT guy but close enough to bring them donuts every so often. :)

Uh, we have dive computers these days. With that said dive watches are mostly redundant. I did know a few for-real deep sea divers and yes they had Submariners. They also had lizard-skin cowboy boots and drove Corvettes and/or big 4WD trucks. I knew a few other divers and they wore Seikos or Citizens.
In the name of all that is wholesome and holy do not wear anything that says Navy Seals or Special Forces or something like that. They don't wear them and will, at the very least, taunt you for wearing them. Almost to a man any Seal/SF will wear a G-shock and sometimes on their vest and not their wrist.
For most of us, the only diving we will do is in some sort of Microsoft product. I usually get deep into spreadsheets and SharePoint. Most of the data I review covers multiple dates. That's why I like to look at the watch on my wrist and know the day/date.
Quite easily the best beater watch going. Lose it at the beach or off the boat or didn't get the crown completely screwed down? Go to Wal-Mart buy more beer, and throw your new Duro in the cart too!
