Hey Fred, it's the quartz version on steroids. The 9F86 Quartz movement is encased and meant to be serviced. It can and will last a lifetime if taken care of. The watch has micro sensors that guage temperatures to keep accuracy optimal. The hands are longer (heavier) so the torque system allows the hands to move normally despite their length and weight. Lastly the backlash auto-adjust system allows the seconds hand to land above the marker precisely.
Accuracy of +/-10 seconds annually or +/-1 second per month. An engineering marvel!

That’s over the top. Growing their own quartz is beyond the scope. I’ll do some research and check back with you. Thanks again for your help with this. I’m excited about the possibility.
