NWA: Timex Expedition (First Hand-Winding Mechanical Watch)

This has to be the most impulsive purchase I ever made with respect to watches. Found a good deal on Amazon and just bought it.

This is the first hand-winding mechanical watch I ever owned. I was contemplating about getting a hand-winding mechanical watch for a long time but didn’t want to spend a ton of money. (As I wanted to get used to hand winding everyday). The Timex expedition mechanical fulfilled those requirements perfectly.

It packs decent specifications - beautiful field style blue dial, leather strap with quick release (20 mm lug width so can strap the heck out of this watch), has AR sapphire crystal, 38-mm stainless steel case and has 100m water resistant. The watch has an OK movement (I think it’s Seagull) and maybe is off by +/- 10 seconds per day .. which is not bad given the price I paid. And while some may consider the second hand to be small I think it looked fine to me and doesnt bother me at all.

Overall I’m happy with this watch. Perfect GADA and beater!

Wheres the strap from? Looks great

Looks like a lovely addition and a stellar impulse buy. Also, appears to be a pretty decent leather strap. 💪

It's probably a stripped down ST6 removing the automatic parts for a thinner watch. The 9 series Miyota would be a better choice but the price would be higher. Get some silicone grease to apply to a pulled out stem because hand winding them causes a lot of wear.
