YEMA - news on its move to going fully in-house

YEMA has updated customers on its moves to go totally in-house, with a caliber it calls 'Manufacture'. Was a bit of a weird word to choose; it never seems quite right when they use it in a sentence, but there you go. I'll reproduce the mail-out below.

(Cue someone responding to this post, saying YEMA has bad CS; I will ask them, "Do you own a YEMA?" "Well, no..." "Have you ever dealt with their CS?" "Well, no..." Etc. Let's take that conversation as having happened, and move on, shall we? :)

The Tourbillon sounds especially tasty...!

Dear YEMA enthusiast, In our quest for transitioning towards a watchmaking Manufacture operating model, since 2020 we’ve shared with you in detail all production relocation and reindustrialization stages we’ve gradually implemented. It all started with the expansion and modernization of our workshops followed by continuous recruitment of talent from the pool of watchmakers and micro-engineers in the Franco-Swiss Jura region, who shared excitement in being part of our ambitious industrial project of internalizing and integrating production vertically. We have also switched to new local partners from both sides of the border, within a 72 km radius of Morteau, to secure a more responsible and higher quality production, while producing our new line of Manufacture Calibers fully in-house. All these new working methodologies represent a significant investment. It is important to emphasize that YEMA remains an independent family-run business. This strategic operating model transition is fully self-funded and depends therefore on the commercial success of our Manufacture Calibers, that's why we’d like to warmly thank all our customers, this ambitious transition would not have been possible without your continuous support.

The CMM.20 micro-rotor as the foundation stone At the end of last year, we successfully completed a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund our very first Manufacture Caliber, the CMM.20 micro-rotor. The execution of this first Manufacture project has allowed us to implement, thoroughly test and improve new manufacturing and production methods. We are very proud of the steps accomplished and ultimately very moved to see the first Wristmaster Travellers equipped with our CMM.20 micro-rotor caliber rolling off our production lines, the first deliveries start this week!

The 3-hands CMM.10 caliber Leveraging from the manufacturing and production methods implemented for the CMM.20 micro-rotor, our upcoming 3-hands Manufacture Caliber CMM.10 features higher precision, better shock-resistance and 70+ hours power reserve, assuring stable and accurate timekeeping. Our watchmakers have been working on this new caliber during the past 2 years and the first series are expected to roll out as early as the first quarter of 2024. In line with our Manufacture Calibers crowdfunding approach, we will be offering the first models equipped with the CMM.10 movement through a new Kickstarter campaign that will be launched before the end of the year.

...and a Tourbillon to celebrate YEMA's 75th anniversary! The year 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of YEMA. To commemorate this symbolic date, and to reinforce our historic watchmaking know-how and our shift into a watchmaking Manufacture operating model, we will soon announce an ultra-limited collector's edition historic YEMA model, equipped with the very first YEMA Tourbillon Manufacture Caliber, the CMM.30. Manufactured in our Morteau workshops, this unique Tourbillon caliber benefits from an architecture by the renowned French Watchmaker Developer Olivier Mory, along with unprecedented performance and complications for such a movement.

With the production of these 3 Manufacture Calibers, we are proud to contribute to the revival of the historic French watchmaking know-how. We thank you for your ongoing support and invite you to sign up to follow the upcoming announcement of the CMM.10 and CMM.30 Manufacture Calibers.

Ok. My interest is peaked with that micro-rotor. I will be curious to see the actual design of the watch.
