Rolex Explorer Review: The Watch with a Soul

Hey everyone!

This is my very personal review of the Explorer. I dive deep into what this iconic timepiece means to me, from memories of my dad's watch shop to my adventures on the dance floor (yes, you heard that right, dancing with a Rolex! ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ’ƒ).

I started my channel because I was frustrated with watch reviews that read from the specs. I wanted people to talk about why and how they chose their watches. How did they feel about it and what memories they made together? So this is my first attempt at such a video.

I wanted to explore (pun intended!) how a watch can be so much more than just a functional item. It can be a memory keeper, a silent companion through life's ups and downs, and even a statement of who you are. Plus, I touch on some of the myths and legends surrounding this classicโ€”what's the real story of that climb to the summit of Mr. Everest?

If you're a Rolex fan, I'd love to hear your personal stories about this watch. What memories have you made with it? Do you still feel the same way about the watch as on the first day?

I'm tagging people who I think will enjoy this story: @SpecKTator @dumihed @kbeightyseven @iliketowatch @Gasanche @Mr.Dee.Bater @DeeperBlue @VictorAdameArt

Very nice video, bit of a party animal ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‚,

This is what watch collecting is about to me now, having a connection to a watch, and enjoying wearing it and adding memories to it, for it to be a sidekick or companion to my adventures,

It's also why I don't have a large collection any more, I have reduced mine down to 4 watches that I have an emotional connection to that hold memories or reflect a certain moment in my life, I am now only buying a new watch to mark something, I am actually enjoying my watches while considering what watch will come next but only when the time is right and not just buying new watches for the sake of it.

Props for getting personal and talking about the watch and what it means to you. Iโ€™m slowly but surely looking at my watches differently as well. Documenting and taking pictures of events with the watch certainly help with my memory. I will remember taking a picture of a King Turtle on Poipu Beach in Kauaiโ€ฆwith a turtle in the background. Those are the little things that make watch collecting cool. ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿป

Loving this, dude! Bravo for making something a bit different. You'll always have an audience of one, at least. : )

Looking forward to watching when I get home, I love your videos! I also had just today saw a post that had me reconsidering how much I like the original explorer and how I had overlooked it.

Exactly! I wanted a watch review that felt like it was made by a watch collector, not a dealer. Reading specs is boring to me now.

And I'm in the same boat. I'm needing to pare down my collection. The funny thing is that I love all my watches, but most are not getting wrist time. And I keep looking at them and thinking I should sell some off, but I never do. But I know I will get to it at some point.

Then, my collection will consist of watches that I wear daily and have a sustained emotional connection.

Yeah, I'm slowing down and appreciating my watches more. At first, I was buying watches so fast, I had no time to appreciate them. I was online looking for my next before the previous order had been delivered! Now, I'm learning to take my time and enjoy the watch, make some memories.

Cheers to you and your journey!

Thanks :-)! I started this to tell the story of my watch journey, and the things I've learned along the way. I don't know how popular it will be, but it's enough for true collectors to appreciate my work.

Thanks so much! If even one person, a true collector, appreciates my work, then that's enough. And I love the Explorer! I will never sell this watch.

Nice video.

I finished the video jealous of how fun and active your free time looks!๐ŸŽ‰

Your dad's story is great and it's not hard to see how's you become a watch enthusiast.

Having met you before watching the overview of you, your roots and the Explorer was a bit surreal. Your story is heartwarming and life affirming, the watch is just a comparative bonus. Looking forward to our next get together.

Thank you. My father has been in my thoughts a lot lately. See you at the next one!
