People have been willing to pay the current RRP, so why in a non-catastrophic scenario would Rolex accept less for the same watch?
If they ever did drop to $5K RRP, you ain't worrying about buying one. You're worrying about shelter & food.
If Rolex retail prices drop below pre-pandemic levels we most likely have other things to worry about than watches.
