Hey family, I'm not necessarily new to collecting but I am young. Been wanting to add a nice travel watch to th collection and am looking for ideas and advice. I have about $500 for a budget. I don't mind microbrands at all either. Any input helps, thank you.

Are you looking for a GMT?
Hoglund and Sons, American micro brand, unreal value for money.
If you can stretch to $599, how about a Lorier Hydra or Hyperion? Both are great value-for-Money GMT travel watches, and both are universally loved around here. Lorier Neptune keeps you below $500 and gives you a classic skin diver, sans GMT.
Seiko SSK GMT
Can I/we get some more informations.
e.g.:
Are you looking for special kind of style (Digital, Fieldwatch, Diver, Flieger, Sport, Dress)?
Does it has to be mechanical or is quartz also ok?
Leather, Metal bracelet or Rubber?
Does it need to be Sapphire or is Mineral also fine?
Should it have some complications as like gmt/dual time or chronograph or date?
Should it has anoy special abillities?
Thanks
Cheers

Thinking about a diver since I don't have one yet, or a sports piece, preferably on a bracelet. Definitely looking for a mechanical movement, any crystal is fine. Other than that I'm open

I'll check them out, thank you

If I can find one I would definitely consider it, I haven't found too many in the budget unfortunately

Check out these options through Islander. I think you can score the Seiko at a lower price elsewhere. You can sign up for e-mails and get 5% off.
Phoibos make a nice caller gmt diver at that price point, as does Borealis. I’d also check out RZE and Boldr for traveller gmt watches, you can get a titanium gmt diver from RZE within that price range.
SpecKTator has it right...Seiko SSK GMT.
Divers:
Seiko 5 Sports GMT
It's actually more diver style than diver with "only" 100m WR, but totally enough, even fir snorkeling. The watch looks with its glas bezel and bracelet really nice and elegant and the GMT function is perfect for traveling.
At Citizen you can go with the usual Promaster divers which are great watches with the typical diver tool character
Or with the NB6021-17E
Made of Titanium with an spectacular history. Onr of the best citizens and the very few good looking ones. Even the original price is almost 1K it is easy to find it for around 500. On chrono24 even less. But take care for taxes.
The Orient Kamasu is a nobrainer. The old or new models. Between 200 and 300 you get a lot of watch with sapphire glas.
Or the Orient Mako 3
Actually I'm not a fan of homage watches but the German brand Elysee offers Rolex lookalikes with Seiko NH-35 movements, ceramic bezel and sapphire christal every few weeks or special holidays for ridiculous high offs upt to 60%. But never pay the original price.
Also from Germany the Sternglas Marus but and own design.
From Thailand (no predjudging till you checked them out) the Wise Hitman
=====================
Sports watches :
Certina DS-Podium.
Part of the swatch group it offers great vallue for money. You can easy find them with high discounts. There are different styles. Some of them are using as movement the Powermatic 80 (C07.111).
From Seiko I would recommend the 5 Sports.
Another alternative is the Orient Star (it has no nickname) with Grand Seiko vibes and little decoration on the movement.

in white
RE-AU0005L00B
From germany not typical sport but a Flieger style I would always recommend Laco. They have different dial styles. Always sapphire and high quality manufactured for very less money.
With your budget you can even order extras as like double AR coating and the better and decirated movement.
E.g.
Blaue Stunde
Aachen
