Thoughts on the Vario Versa?

New quartz budget Cartier Tank Basculante/ JLC Reverso alternative. $428 retail, under $400 with the promo code. What are your thoughts? I think it’s really cool looking and at a great price! Considering picking one up myself!

I'd want something useful on the back side rather than just a color change.

Also I'd only get one without leather personally. Too much nasty crap going on in that industry. Often it's cats and dogs from China which is the world's biggest exporter.

It's a better form factor than the elongated Reverso, but it's also a trick that I certainly wasn't asking for. At least it's handsome, not huge, and quartz.

That’s fair but for the first release at this price it makes sense.

I hear you about the leather part but a ton of watches come on leather, its not specific to this watch.

It's interesting, but not my cup of tea.

I don't dress up often enough to justify buying one, particularly when I have other sporty/dressy alternatives already.

Yeah I know. I just avoid all leather. It's normally easy to find a version that comes on a bracelet.

It's very nice, just not my style.

I like it, especially the light coloured dial, though I know nothing about the company.

I think tanks look good for very dressy occasions, and for a bunch of reasons I'd have this over the Cartier every time. You should be safe with a leather strap from one of the better known quality strap makers, I can't see them passing off cat or dog as something else. If you do wear it dressy for special occasions (as I would) then something glossy and exotic* would set it off perfectly.

*So far as I can make out reptile leathers are very sustainable, but Shagreen is not, unfortunately.

Yeah I get what you mean.

I'm not trying to force anyone to do anything. I just find it hard not to mention it while also being part of the community.

I honestly don't even want to be on forums I'm just stuck in bed due to a back problem and have nothing better to do.

Went to the site today ready to pull the trigger and they were sold out. Got on the update list for late 2023. Oh well...
