I’m wondering if it has something to do with the dome being stronger against impacts and pressure than a flatter crystal. The more domed shape helps to better distribute impact and pressure across the entire surface.
Complete personal opinion, but I really like Tissot as a brand,yet really dislike the branding on many of their watches.
I agree, sometimes I think watch people get too attached to historical function and forget the specific design of the model makes a bigger difference. The Cartier santos and JLC reverso come to mind as examples of historic sports watches that are much more dress watch at this point
