Very nice.

Looking good.

Technically a downgrade, but I'd choose this one too. ❤️ If they release an update with a Venturer clasp, I'm jumping.

I believe the new clasp will be sold for anyone that wishes to add it, eventually.

A downgrade in some ways but the steel hardening, clasp are better than Sinn's. I prefer the Miyota over SW, as well.

If only they had a clasp with otf micro adjust…

What’s so good about the venturer clasp?

Toolless adjustability. Like Rolex, like Tudor, like some of their better copies.

I'll save up for one eventually too. 😉

I wonder, is the ETA/Sellita gold standard still golden? Can an obsolete technology be made obsolete twice, the second time by a modern version of the same obsolete technology? Because I can only praise my 90S5. I can wind it without fear and even though I can hear it, I take it as a balane for not seeing it.

Miyota 9xxx series movements put every ETA/SW I have owned to shame. If the Miyota carried the "Swiss" label, it would be 3x the cost.

For the ETA/SW, you are paying for high cost Swiss labor, not necessarily for a better movement.

It didn’t originally come with that type of clasp which is why I hadn’t pulled the trigger. This is awesome

I’ve had no issues with my miyota movements either but the ETAs are objectively better, especially if you go up the different levels. They have slightly better power reserve, an extra jewel, better shock resistance, and better springs, and my favorite “upgrade” is the instant date change. Miyotas are thinner which definitely can be a big plus when designing a thin watch, but other than that and price, the ETA is a better choice.

Miyotas have over 40, ETA's have 38 hours. Or did you mean some other models? Extra jewel..where? How much does it matter? Instant date change sure is nice, but you got me with better shock resistance. How do they achieve it? Is it just the durability of the mechanism itself, or even stability of the regulation?

Stunning!

Completely different look with this dial!

It doesn't explain how, though...I must search some more...

Tl; dr: A rant about the difficulty of finding facts in the sea of twaddle

Full version: I wasn't able to find answers online, only that better anti-shocks have better repeatability, making the accuracy better after the shock, but nothing specific.

Novodiac is a cheaper option by Incabloc.

My experience: I once beat my head in anger (with myself) and my Miyota went from +5 s/d to +11 s/d. Still fine, but nowhere near as nice as the original accuracy. Now I worry to tap an almost empty ketchup bottle... or should I? People sometimes shoot firearms with their mechanicals on. The internet is full of misimformation. First you learn that 30 m WR isn't really for 30 m depths, then all the lies brands put out to make their histories richer (Rolex, Panerai, Blancpain). You don't have to baby your watch, but what is the limit exactly?

Water resistance is a similar issue: Some makers say that 30 m really is 30 m, some users say "don't swim without 200 m of WR". Others dislike non-screw-down crowns for swimming, other others say they're fine and perhaps better in the long run, as there isn't a thread to be worn or destroyed. A watchmaker who regulated my Vostok after I tried my hand at it and cocked it up, said that watches should be worn on the right hand, because the rest position of the balance wheel is with the crown down. Smells fishy. Still, better than a previous one I tried who said Vostok watches didn't use Vostok movements, but Seikos. I knew not to trust my watch to an ignoramus in that case, but there's no limit to what's out there...I just want a pretty tick-tock on my wrist for most occasions...

It’s attractive but does not attract attention. This is not the one that smacks home runs out of the park every night, but it will get you on base every single time. This is not your temperamental Ferrari supercar, but your well-mannered Mercedes. This is not the one night stand — this is the one you marry.
