Apple Watch Ultra

Good Morning Watch Friends

So this may be a taboo subject within the watch world, as we all ❤Quartz and Automatic's, SMART WATCHES! But.................I'm really tempted to buy the Apple Watch Ultra, when I first saw it I absolutely loved the dimension's of it, I loved the large screen and the orange band. I've had Apple watches before and didn't really use them to their full capabilities, who does?. I feel having this one I'd wear it quite a lot. what's your thoughts?

My only gripe is there could be a Ultra 2 on the horizon, you know what Apple are like for yearly upgrades! 🤯

thank you Ben

I wouldnt buy it... imo it costs way too much for a disposable item that will need updates and will be rendered useless very soon. And if you wont use the functions to their full capacity, then whats the point? We are already way too attached to our tech gizmos, adding an other one that is also strapped onto your body will only make that worse.

I think if you really want one get it!

There is nothing wrong with wanting a smart watch and I’ll do you one better I where one every single day! I weare my Apple Watch on my right wrist and a mechanical or quartz on my left.

I have an Apple Watch Series 5 bought 2020 and I believe at the time it wasn’t even the latest model. Still works just fine with no issues. I wanted it to track my exercising and check my personal phone text messages when I’m working because I also have a separate business cell phone. I no it won’t last forever but for me the 3 years I have had it was worth it and I would imagine that it will last at least 2-3 more years before apple will stay pushing it out. Idk if you willing to double wrist it like me so it all boils down to your personal opinion on worth to depart with your cash for it. But don’t feel guilty or judged out of getting it.

Holy Crap I rambled on 😆

I own an Apple Watch so you won’t receive grief from me! That said, it’s what I wear to the gym and outside that single use, it sits on its charger. That’s not me knocking it, as I think it’s a phenomenal little device that serves it purpose incredibly well. My bet is the Ultra would be even better.

With all tech, unless I am confident that something is going to be released very soon, I just buy it now. I much rather not be left spinning my wheels waiting. And let’s face it, even if you wait it’s a device that’ll likely be usurped in 18 months anyways. It’s one of the best things about regular watches… they don’t have expiration date! 😂 Good luck!

If you can, wait a bit. There should be an Apple event in September to announce the new Apple Watches. The new models typically cost similar to existing models and/or you can get the existing models at a slight discount. The series 9 should be announced then and it is rumoured have a new chip that is supposed to boost power and hopefully battery life. The chips have changed very little since the series 5, so this new chip will be a big upgrade.

If you are only planning to use it for health tracking, just get the wifi only version of the series 8 (current version) or series 9. You don't really need the cellular version. You can track your runs without your iPhone with the wifi only version of the Apple Watch.

The 41mm wears like a 36mm watch, so it's perfect. You don't need the 45mm or Ultra unless you like the look of having an iPhone strapped on your wrist. Getting 41mm and wifi only saves you a few bob.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to change your Apple Watch every year. It has a life cycle of about 4 to 5 years or more.

The biggest headache I have with an Apple Watch is how to juggle using both it and my regular watches.

oh but, but, but it's the Ultra I want 😢 I like the overall aesthetics of it, I've had Apple Series 5 and I only had it a few months before getting rid. I'll have a think about it.

The Ultra is more than double the price of a wi-fi only 41mm version, add in monthly cellular fees, that's an additional 120 quid a year (assuming it's 10 pound a month - I'm just guessing, don't know UK cellular rates for the Apple Watch).

As with all watches, buy what you like.😉

Just read this. £22 a month is cheap. Just wait till Sept after the Apple announcement, then get it.

·

so it's £17 for the watch and £5 for cellular fees. per month.

·

Wait for the Ultra 2…announcement in September

I'll want that then, and it'll be £1000 or more

Nothing against smart watches buy what you like. But if we are all honest we know about Apple pricing over the years, not worth it for me, but its your cash.

i think the outright price is high, the monthly price via my carrier is cheaper, but i'll have a think about it 😊

You will never get the answer you want on here regarding a smart watch , just get it , I wear mine all the time at work and couldn’t be without it now.
