Swiss made only in Switzerland?

To all swiss people.... Grüezi!🇨🇭

I'm wondering... is there a stigma attached to wearing non Swiss watches in Switzerland?

Non watch people surely don't notice but if you have any watch people friends, do you sometimes get banter for "not supporting your local industry"?

I did notice in Geneva plenty of Casio and Seiko and Grand Seiko and Citizen on sale. So someone is buying them!

I doubt it. They're not American...... 😁

As an Englishman, every time I visit Europe I wear a Swiss watch, but if I'm going to a third world country like America or London, I'll wear a Casio instead.

In the capital of said Third World country, ie New York, I most often wear a Grand Seiko.

And as an aside, I'm highly annoyed that the two major watch industry reports, Morgan Stanley and Deloitte, cover only Swiss watches, like the rest of the world doesn't exist. I've tried to find the market share of say, Grand Seiko, or German watches, but I can't.

I'd have zero issues wearing any watch in Switzerland (especially a G Shock). I'd imagine that if you wore a high beat or spring drive GS you would start a lot of conversations.

It's 2024. How staid could the Swiss watch community be - I would guess not very.

This comment is cracking me up! Thank you for the chuckle.

Of corse, I have a Nomos and a Grand Seiko and I am very happy even if I am a Swiss Citizen!
