Daughter's Birth Watch - Longines Heritage Tuxedo Chronograph
Few months before the arrival of our princess, I was looking around what should I add to my collection as a birth watch to commemorate her birth. Something special that will stay in the collection till I passed it on to her.
Did consider vintage (so that she may wear it) sharing a piece that we share. However, I do want to have the papers dated on the same day she is born. Perhaps something with vintage vibes. In late 2018, Longines launched the Heritage Sector Dial and Tuxedo (time only and chronograph).
I really like both the Heritage Sector Dial and Tuxedo Chronograph. After trying both, with same lug to lug on both. The Tuxedo Chronograph (40mm) has better proportion shorter lugs as compared to Sector Dial (38.5mm) my sweet spot.
I was struggling to make a decision and having a new born meant that I do not want to go crazy with another big purchase as there will be a lot of upcoming expenses. With better proportion, vintage vibes and a bi compax chronograph. It makes more sense to add a mechanical chronograph, as I didn't have one in my collection at that time.
Fast forward nearing her due date, I ordered and make a full payment for the watch and will collect the watch from the AD the very day she is born. There is definitely nothing like it. The watch is really just secondary and something to commemorate my first born.
It's so magical and the very first moment she opened her eyes and looked at me, hold my finger with her small hands. The joy of your very own flesh and blood is nothing any material stuffs will be able to give.
Wearing this watch always reminds me of her, the special bond that we shared. I am glad that I can one day pass down this special watch together with the papers to her.

First, congratulations! What a big beautiful moment in life, and having a lifelong celebration of it on your wrist that can one day be passed on is probably the greatest reason to buy something in this luxury hobby of ours.
I have always been a sucker for Longines and this is my favorite one they have come out with in the past few years. In my humble opinion you knocked it out of the park. I even picked this one as a watch I would buy my wife earlier this year in an article.

She is now a young toddler. I guess there is some bonding with her and the watch. I once put some watches on the tray and she choose the Tuxedo Chronograph!

We do travel sometimes with her birth watch together. I am thinking I may keep the watch so that when she is all grown up, I can still have this piece with me all the time.
