Review of the almost "Perfect Wedding Watch"

After more than 4 years of ownership on my very first mechanical watch which I bought to commemorate one of the most important life milestone - my wedding.

Previously did mentioned in the post on how and why I select the Reverso Tribute Moon as my wedding watch. I shall not bore you with the details. So let's dive into the review.

The main highlight of the Tribute Moon is definitely the dials and the amount of details that goes into this watch. The standout for me is its silver textured dial and the details that goes into the watch. The red crescent moon tip hand date, moonphase is also textured.

The contrast of the blue applied indices with blue hands on the sandblasted grained silver dial and perfectly symmetrical hand date and moonphase complication at 6 o'clock. Adding romance to the iconic Reverso.

On the flip side, you have the beautiful blue dial with the clous de Paris textured that comes with a day/night indicator. The Reverso Tribute Moon can be use as a dual time zone watch as well.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 853A is the movement that powers this simple looking Reverso but packs a number of complications. It's a manual winding watch and the winding the crown, its buttering smooth.

  • Moonphase

  • Hand date

  • Dual Face

  • Dual Time Zone

  • Day/night indicator

You can adjust the time with the lever to 1 hour intervals for your home time.

Although it's the "largest" cased Reverso on JLC Reverso (Regular Production). I would have preferred it to be in smaller case size; it can fit small wrist like mine (6" wrist). Ideally, wrist size of 6.5" and above will have a better fit on this gorgeous timepiece.

This is still my favourite timepiece till date in my collection. Just wished that I have a larger wrist so that the timepiece will look better on the wrist.

It's versatile enough to be worn with smart casual outfits. Contrary to popular belief, it's often said that the Reverso is too dressy for most and can only be worn in formal occasions.

You can always swap a more colourful Alligator strap to dress down the timepiece. I have worn the timepiece with t-shirts and shorts too.

All in all, Jaeger-LeCoultre offers quality timepieces for the watch aficionados. Despite the recent price hike on their products, JLC offerings are still one of the best in terms of haute horology. Rolex are overpriced too even at retail. 🤷‍♂️

If you want a timepiece which is not too mainstream but not venture into the realm of high end independent. JLC offers a touch of haute horology at attainable prices.

The Reverso collection is my absolute favorite. I don’t think it’s dimensions look too large on you at all.

You are brave to give less than a five star review. Most would have given the highest marks across the board with less thought (and for much lesser watches).

The wrist shot shows how you may perceive it. I understand why you think that it wears large (it does). The casual shot (or crotch shot, the "money" shot for the ladies) show how everyone else sees it on you. In that photo it appears to be appropriately sized.

Wear it in good health. It is a beautiful watch.

I own a duoface Reverso, absolutely love the back story and the fact that it flies under the radar…….except to another watch collector!

It's my first mechanical watch that started my horology journey. Couldn't be happier to start with an almost perfect watch.

I would say that it's borderline large. Probably the max I can go with a lug to lug of 50mm. 🥂

Thank you! 🙏

As much as I love it. There probably isn't a perfect watch out there. I am just giving my honest review on the ownership of this gorgeous Reverso. I am sure that if it were a tad smaller, it could probably be 4.9/5. Nevertheless I wanted a moonphase complication and the sandblasted silver textured dial is just hard to refuse. It was truely love at first sight and it will always has a special place in my heart. No matter what watches I will add in the future. 🥂

A beautiful watch and it looks great on your wrist. I wouldn't worry too much about the size.

You for sure choose wisely for a wedding watch. I wish I was into watches more when I did. I ended up just grabbing a random watch that my father owned.

Which one do you own?

Love the Reverso and will probably go to the secondary market to pick up another one. With the recent price hike, I don’t think the Reverso represents the value it used to be.
