What do you think of this new version?

The trend to smaller watches really is irreversible now. Great news for the slender-wristed among us!

If I hadn’t already made a big watch purchase this year, I’d probably jump on it. It takes cues of the Rolex Explorer II while doing its own thing and keeping the C63 design language and coherence. Really like it!

·

Disappointed.

Not a fan of the small watch craze, was hoping for an entirely new posh model.

·

36mm not for me

·

Black dial is my favorite. I already own a 36mm Sealander so I can tell you these wear excellent. I’m a big guy and still get plenty of compliments on mine.

Some great eye candy here ☺️

There's definitely a market for it and they know it. Plenty won't want it, enough will. Bigger GMTs cut out people from buying, so those people will be happy now. It's maybe not the slam dunk I think some were expecting, but not every release can be!

·

It looks small even in the CW photos

·

I think it looks great! I feel like proportions of hands and markers look better in a smaller size. That said, it does seem small for a GMT, but that’s fine. Well done CW.

yeah, not the best model hands for this one 😅

·

Great new release! 👏👏👏👏👏

·

I absolutely love it and this is the one I have been waiting for. I am downsizing my collection now with the intent on adding back in a a smaller everyday watch. This is exactly the watch I was hoping they would make for a long time. I think either black bader or white consort for bracelets. Leaning to white right now.

Same here, my wrist is 7.3ish and I love smaller watches. The 36mm sealander wears great! 36 is a classic size, and never uncomfortable

·

I mean... okay? 36mm does nothing for me, and while yeah it's a cool watch a new size doesn't feel like the world shaking announcement like they were making it out to be. Great, another size of the same watch, cool, but CW has raised the stakes, I'm not impressed by a smaller size of an existing model.

It's big watches that are the fad, not the other way around. 😉

It's the fact that it's a 36mm GMT that's a big deal. Go look for 36mm GMTs and you'll see why.

This. People who want big watches are already spoiled for choice. No need to get salty when we get something for a change! 😂

Right on all counts but does that really deserve a 3 day media blitz? Seems like overkill to me. It opened CW up to too much speculation which fuels a lot of disappointment. They dropped 36 mm titanium 12s with little to no fanfare.

An announcement that said 'A great watch with a great design now available in a new size!" would have been enough. Especially since there was little design change.

This is exactly my point. It's a cool watch, a new size is great, but it's not "STOP THE PRESSES!!" The Bel Canto was legitimately that good, the Twelve was exciting, the C1 Moonphase was wild, this is... smaller. I have no problem with the watch, I have a problem with the huge media build up over almost nothing. Like I said initially, CW has raised the stakes, they've shown us how big they can go, don't tease "big" then deliver "okay."

I'm not commenting about their marketing strategy, I could care less. If you felt built up and then disappointed, well, not every watch is for everyone, but this one is an addition to very short list for a lot of people, which I think is always welcome, even if it's for for me. You want 40mm+ watches? Great! The world is already your oyster, so go enjoy!

Right but morningwatchmilwaukee was specifically commenting on the announcement not the watch itself which is the point.

I am a big fan of CW and what they do. I just think that they had a marketing misstep with this one.

·

Not original at all. So tired of companies mimicking Rolex.

morningwatchmilwaukee has been commenting that they didn't feel the announcement was as big as it was made out to be and complaining that it's just a resize of an existing watch. That's subjectively true only if you can wear or want to wear the larger model. Considering that there are, maybe, 3 GMT watches available at this size, it's a pretty big deal from that perspective.

It's like if all dive watches were 50mm and one of less than five 41mm models were announced. That's exciting for anyone who was sized out, even if that particular watch doesn't tickle their fancy.

I don't know why some folks seem to have their feelings hurt about a downsized release. If it doesn't interest, you can move on. CW ticked the boxes for what their goal was and it was well executed. It could have been a disappointing watch for its own execution, like the Casio "Baby" Duro. This is just a watch not at a preferred size for some. For people with small wrists, that's almost every watch, so I assure you, it's survivable. 😉

So tired of people hating on Rolex…

The only hate here is someone trying to make a CW thread about Rolex, then pretending they are the aggrieved party.

It's like a Rolex, apart from size, shape, dial layout, indexes, hands, and materials...

It's like complaining that a Rolex is just mimicking Bregeut and Longines.

Hhehee yeah. I have a feeling this Watches and Wonders will have a few big brands making slightly smaller derivatives of certain watches.

Also, larger watches are coming along from Rolex (Explorer 40mm, DJ 41mm, the Sub is now 41mm) and we all see how the entire industry generally follows Rolex's lead.....

Hahaha I must be blind. Doesn’t look like an Explorer II at all.

It bears a resemblance in a very broad way, but that is not what you said. You said CW was mimicking Rolex, they are not.

If you meant to say the CW looks somewhat similar to the Rolex, then you should have used words to that effect.

It seems that your intent was to come in and crap on a brand you consider beneath you... That's "hating". Me pointing out that behaviour your behaviour is tedious has nothing to do with Rolex as a brand, or the watches they make. Ergo there was no Rolex "hate".

·

We will have to agree to disagree, because I do feel like it’s a mimic. However, that’s my opinion and you don’t have to agree with it.

The aesthetic appeal of this watch distinctively comes from the Rolex explorer II. It’s very obvious. My original statement is not making everything about Rolex. It’s simply stating an obvious observation. I am not “hating “ on CW. There have been many companies lately that have mimicked their version of the Explore II. I would just like to see some original ideas.

You stereotypes that people make everything about Rolex, and that simply not true. However, you seem to not be a huge fan.

·

The white dial is the PERFECT Explorer alternative to me!! It's the size of the Explorer 1 with the design language of the Explorer 2

·

Looks totally like an Explorer II homage with Explorer I size
