Khaki Automatic v. King

Hello all. I’ve been wanting a Hamilton Khaki for a while, but can’t decide between Auto and King. The mechanical is out of the question here as a piece I own already satisfies that role. Would love to hear your recommendations, especially if you have experience with either or both. Let me know, thank you!

auto— 38mm

king— 40mm

wrist size — 6.25”

Hello, both are awesome watches.

I think for a 6.25” wrist, the 38mm is a better fit. I like the red seconds hand.

The 40mm is also a great option if you wear it on the strap. I think the Day Date complication is elite. However, if you ever put it on a steel bracelet, it will be a hair too big for your wrist.

For reference, these are my Hamilton 38mm Murph, and Hamilton Khaki Field 40mm. I have 6.5 inch wrist

Great pieces. Thanks so much for the advice.

I'd go with the 38mm. The King has a lug to lug of almost 50mm.

I have the 38mm auto and my buddy has the king. Both look great and function very similar, so it mostly comes down to wearability and aesthetics.

For wearability, I have to recommend the 38mm automatic.

For. Aesthetics, which is more of a problem for you?

  • The date window pushing the 15 out of alignment on the auto
  • The day window cutting off the 11 and 1 and completely removing the 12 While pushing the 24 out of alignment on the khaki

I think for your wrist size the Khaki Auto 38mm is a better choice. I have a 6.75 inch wrist and I can barely pull of the Khaki King because of its stupidly long lug-to-lug. Here's the Khaki Auto 38mm on my wrist for reference.
