Rolex Air King 5500 (34mm)

I have smaller wrists (6.25”) and am looking for a vintage Rolex that won’t break the bank. Currently, I have my sights set on an Air King 5500 from the late 60’s/early 70’s.

Is there anyone who’s had hands-on experience with one of these watches who’s able to provide me with any advice?

5700 on 6.5 inch wrist. Same as what you’re looking at except with a date. Inherited from my grandfather. With the size of your wrist I’d look at a later one, maybe not as early as 60’s. There was a point (that Google will confirm) where the bracelet changed to have screw links. Much better quality bracelet that’s way easier to adjust. The locking part of the clasp isn’t that long but the pressed part is, so getting a good fit might be a bit fiddly. Definitely try one on (with the bracelet sized) if at all possible.

The tiny lume dots at the end of the hour markers can come loose over time. Other than that. It’s wonderful. Classy, beautifully made. Classic design. Keeps time better than most of my other watches. You’ll absolute love it.
